If you could hear my heartbeat every time someone said your name
You can imagine how strong the drummer in a live gig plays
Though they're not just heartbeats because each one of them says a word
Which rattles about the pleasure and torment all through.
My heartbeat whispers that sometimes I can't even hear it
But if you're close to my heart it's easy to feel it
So when somebody asks me about you casually
A series of strong heartbeats asks if someone also asks you about me.
Then those heartbeats instantly think how you're doing
Which my head doesn't know but can't stop thinking about
It wonders if my name makes you feel something
If it does, is it security or just doubt?
My heartbeats shout your name
In so many yet different ways
Sometimes it shouts with pain
But I can't deny the contentment
That you didn't decide but I did
To wait for you and stay
Even if during this hour your heart grows rigid
I will continue to love you today.
