I know where you hide, alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls, yeah

Tap on my window, knock on my door, I want to make you feel beautiful

I don't mind spending every day
Out on your corner in the pouring rain, oh
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while

I never understood why she would go with all these guys only to end up hurt. She knows the pattern with the guys she dates, but she never learns. She seeks them out like a drug addict does for drugs, but they always leave her broken and bruised. Each and every time she falls down, she comes crying to me about how she can never find the right guy.

She doesn't even know that I'm standing right here.

I've been catching her whenever she falls ever since the start of high school. We're both in our thirties, and she's still stuck in her past. I should move on since she clearly doesn't feel the same about me, but there's something about her that always pulls me in.

Maybe it's the way her eyes light up when she sees me. Maybe it's the late nights we have together baking cakes and watching her favorite movies. Maybe it's the way her hair flows when we're driving together, and the smell of her shampoo wafts over to me. Maybe it's the way she tries to use me as a body pillow when we're cuddling and watching my favorite movies.

Whatever the reason, I know that she is the one for me, but she doesn't even know it.

It's been a while since I last saw her, but that's probably because she is trying to get over her latest fling. I don't remember his name, but I think he played with her feelings and led her on even though he had a wife at home. After every single break up, there's a place where she likes to go to be alone.

I head there immediately knowing she is going to want me by her side.

She found this place overlooking the city in the park where one could drive their car and park it there. When I get there, I see her car in the shadows with the lights off. I hate seeing her in pain, but how do I tell her to open her damn eyes and look at the one who's been there for her all this time?

I get out of my own car and head up the mountain, approaching her car cautiously so she doesn't get scared. She's not in the front seat but the back, and there are tears streaming down her face. I knock twice on the window, and she looks up at me with bright eyes despite them being shrouded in sadness.

She opens the door for me and I slide inside, closing it behind me. She doesn't say a word to me as she leans into my arms, burying her face in the crook of my neck. Her sobs break my heart in two, but the last thing I am going to tell her is how I feel.

"You deserve so much more than him," I whisper. "Someone who will make you feel like you're the only woman in the world."

She doesn't respond to me, but her cries do die down. I catch the sight of her tear-stained face through the rear-view mirror, and I can't help but think that even in her most broken state, she's the most beautiful woman in the world.
