Summary: You, the daughter of the Sea King, sneak to the surface of the ocean to watch humanity pass you by. As they come and go, there is one person that you meet that is constant and his name is Sam Winchester. Here is your story.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Humanity was always the one thing that fascinated you. Humans were just so much fun to observe and you wished you could just go up and talk to them. You knew it was dangerous for them to even know you existed but you couldn't help yourself. You wanted to be among them, talk to them, walk like them.

Your father, the sea king, prevented all merfolk from interacting with humans in fear of a threat. He thought if they knew about mermaids and mermen, then they would attack and a huge war would break out. The ocean was a big place and you would guess there is just as many merfolk than there are humans. Maybe even more.

So, every once in a while, you would sneak away and swim to the surface where you would hide away where no one ever went and watched humans go about their lives. Your favorite place to sit was a cove of rocks with a little pond in the middle of it. You'd sit in there and watched children laugh as they splashed in the water, women lay on their towels and soak up the sun, men play catch with their sons and dogs run around happily.

Humans seem to have it so easy unlike you. But there was one human that always stuck out to you and his name is Sam Winchester. It's been about 8 years since you last talked to him and you really miss him. You didn't know where he went or if he's even alive but you hope that one day he would make it back to you.

You remember the very first time you met Sam, it was like a dream. You were watching kids run around the beach, having fun when Sam saw you and talked to you.

No matter how many times you came to the surface, you were never disappointed. You saw on your rock, hidden from their view, your tail splashing in the water below you. You found a pocket of rocks with a pond in the middle where you could rest and watch the humans. It was one of your favorite things to do even though your dad hated anyone coming up here.

You had your nanny, who loved humans as well, cover for you as long as you were safe. She knew you always were. Your dad would be furious if his 6-year-old daughter got out and went to the surface.

You rested your forearms on the rock and placed your chin in your palm, watching the kids run around and laugh. You envied humans because they had legs and that's all you ever wanted. Being a mermaid was great and all but you wanted to be so much more than the daughter of the sea king.

"Who are you?" You gasped and looked behind you to see a kid your age standing there with a starfish in his hands. You must have been so busy watching the humans you didn't hear one approach you from behind. At least he was a kid. You should have dove into the ocean and swam away but there was something about him that you liked, that you trusted.

"Hey, put that starfish down. He's done nothing to you." You swam across the little pond and snatched the creature gently from his hands before placing it under water where he belonged.

"Hey! Why'd you do that? I was going to show him to my daddy." The little boy pouted.

"That starfish does not belong to you. You were stealing." You said.

"Are you a mermaid?" The kid asked, looking at your tail. He momentarily forgot about the starfish. You nodded and flicked your tail, splashing water on him. He giggled and took a seat on the rock next to you.
