Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader

Warnings: heavy angst, depression, drinking your feelings, major character death

Summary: Dean left when you two had a fight. You told him to go, and that's precisely what he did... he just never came home. You've been a shell of yourself ever since you found out what happened to him.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, my loveI buried you a month or two agoI keep thinking that you're standing on my floorThat you're waiting there for meHey, my loveYou've walked out a hundred times out of usSupposed to know this time that you wouldn't callThat you wouldn't come home

Dean's at it again. It's the same fucking fight on a different night. You've been together for a few years, yet, he still has the same fucking insecurities he's had when you first started dating. It's always "you'd be better off without me" and "there is someone out there who can treat you better than I can". You learned to put up with those comments over the years, but now, it's just getting ridiculous. You two have been through so much that these thoughts shouldn't even be in his head.

Sure, you do stupid shit that makes him question why he's with you, but you two always bounce back from those little moments.

Not this time.

"I can't keep having this fight with you! It's the same fucking fight all the time!" you yell at him.

"Then why do you stay with me? We're always fighting it seems like, so maybe you should just leave!"

"God, you can be so insecure sometimes!"

"Why wouldn't I be? You go off and flirt with men at bars, leaving me to pick up the pieces you left behind! It seems like I'm always in second place with you!" he screams.

You're lucky you don't have roommates because the whole Bunker can hear you two go at it. Poor Sam just wants to sleep, but even you can't give that to him. He's sick and tired of hearing all these fights you two have. You and Dean have your good moments, of course, but it seems like there are more bad than good right now.

"Don't you dare think that there's anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you! I have been nothing but loyal and faithful to you, Dean, and you fucking know it. It's not my fucking problem that you feel insecure."

"Yeah, I guess it isn't," Dean growls.

"You know, you're always looking for reasons to shut me out–reasons that make me look like the bad guy. You're always telling me if I want to leave, then I should. Well, maybe you should leave since you clearly want us broken up!"

"Yeah, maybe I will!"

"Good!"

"Fine!" Dean screams at you.

Dean snatches his jacket from one of the chairs and storms out of the room. You're left alone in the library in the aftermath of this fight. Your heart is heavy will guilt, shame, sadness, and exhaustion. Dean is having an off day, that's all, but it seems like he's been having a lot of off days lately. You're supposed to be there for him when he needs you, and he clearly needs you the most right now. Chuck is messing with his head about everything, and all you've been doing is picking fights with him.

He needs to know how much you love him and that you'll wait for him until he's ready to open up to you. After all, he is your best friend. So, you sit at the tiny library table and wait for him to come home... but he never does.
