Nora POV

„You Are Late." my father greeted me with a stern expression. The usual shit every time I see him and this is at least once or twice a year. But I'd rather stay away from him.

„I'm sorry father. Traffic wasn't in my favor today."
I replied and he rolled his eyes at me. The attitude makes me wanna jump out the nearest window.

„I could have let my driver pick you up. You shouldn't drive on your own. Since you had an accident recently. How did that even happen?"
I was surprised that he asked me about details but I wanted to shrug it off.

„That doesn't matter. It happened and you should be glad nothing worse happened."

„Nora my dear. How have you been." Jessica asked me giving me a kiss and cold hug. Fathers wife. Known as my step mother. The life sucking bitch.

„Great but not anymore since I need to interact with you." I greeted her with a fake smile.

„Nora!! Show some respect. What is wrong with you." my father kept his voice down but I heard how he wanted to shout at me.

„My apologize Jessica. But I should probably look for the bar. I hope they have something good."

I walked past my parents not giving them a chance to hold me back. I hate family interactions and it never felt like a family anyway. Not to me. I'm the black sheep in the family. The outstanding person but I'm fine with that.

„A martini please and make it strong." I leaned against the bar and looked out for someone I know. Anyone because i don't think I'll be able to hold through for the night.

„Here you go miss. The martini." I nod and chucked it down at one getting a strange look from him.

„Don't give me that look. Make me another one please." I slid the glass back and he nod making me another one without saying a word.

„Looks like you Are someone who doesn't want to be here." A raspy voice that approached me and I looked to my left wanting to know who this person was.

„Is it that obvious?" I asked and the beautiful woman nod her head yes.

„it is. I was watching from far and I thought you might need the right company."

„You've been stalking me?" I asked and she chuckled shaking her head.

„No. just admiring i guess."

„Thanks I guess. You don't seem like a person who fits into this area." She raised a brow and looked through the room then back at me.

„Yeah. I'm just here to get to know the people.
My duty I guess."

„I'm Nora by the way." I stretched my hand out and we shook them for a moment.

„Scarlett. Nice to meet you."

„Likewise."

„So. Why are you here tonight?" she asked me as I took a sip of my martini.

„Family." I simply replied and she raised a brow.

„The way you said it sounds like you don't get along well with them."

„How did I say it?"

„Annoyed. Pissed. You name it."

„Yeah. Am I that easy to read?" I asked and she laughed lightly.

„Partly yes and no. I guess I'll just have to see what the night brings."

„Hey babe! Who's that?" Victor asked as he kissed me on the lips and I can taste the amount of alcohol he had. I pulled back and he slung his arm around my waist pulling me in.
