Office talk

Nora POV

„Can you please wait for a moment?!!"
Scarlett yelled after me but I kept walking. The hallway was still empty and the only thing I heard where footsteps behind me. Not just Scarlett's. Probably Professor Olsen ones too.

Before I could walk further I felt a pair or hands grab my arm pulling me into the nearest room.

„What the fuck! Let me leave okay!" I spat in anger as I saw how Scarlett stood in front of the door with Professor Olsen next to her.

„I wasn't lying!" Scarlett replied after some silence.

„I don't really have a reason to believe you... and why the heck is my Professor now involved in This?" I asked while pointing at the woman that drives me insane.

„I knew about it too..." I scoffed and crossed my arms walking through the room up and down.

„Is this some sick joke? You two? Did you see him cheat?" I asked and they didn't reply.

„That's what I thought. Now let me go. I don't wanna put up with this."

„We heard how he walked up with some chick and we followed. We heard sex noises and they where definitely his. We wanted to tell you the night we found out but you where so drunk we didn't know how you'd react." Professor Olsen explained and my heart twisted as she explained what happened.

„We're so sorry Nora-." I shook my head and stopped walking.

„Why? We've been so long together. Three years. I've been there for him through everything you can imagine and now I hear from two strangers he's cheating on me? Why?!!"

„We Are so sorry Nora. You don't deserve this and he doesn't deserve you. Things like this happen in life sometimes they are meant to happen for some reason."

„Oh Scarlett don't Tell me things about faith. Getting cheated on is something that nobody deserves. It's not like I've been a saint too."

„Did you cheat too?" my eyes drifted off to Professor Olsen.

„I think so." I looked back to Scarlett scanning her face drained in sorrow.

„I need some air." I huffed out making my way to the door trying to walk past them but they didn't let me.

Both of their hands grabbed my arms holding me back.

„Please don't do anything you might regret." Scarlett said as I looked into her eyes.

„And Please don't think it's your fault. Because it's not." I looked at Professor Olsen now and she had an expression that looked worried. Why does she care?

Why do they care?
For a student.

„I still have someone to talk to."

„Call me if you need anything. Even if it's just someone to talk to." Scarlett pleaded and I smiled faintly.

„I'll handle myself." I replied and left them both in the office.

Narrator POV

„What exactly happened when you drove her home that night?" Lizzie asked as soon as the door closed.

„We kissed. Nothing else happened. She regretted it immediately after and walked off. Elizabeth... she felt guilty. Guilty that I kissed her. Her heart is to pure. I was raging on the inside as I saw her expression of guilt, knowing that we witnessed how Victor cheated." Scarlett explained to her as they both sat down on Lizzie's couch in her office.

„What do we do now? She obviously doesn't believe us."

„She needs to talk to victor now."

„You think it'll go well?" Lizzie asked obviously worried.

„I hope so. I know where she lives. I can look after her in the evening."

„Right." she replied and leaned back closing her eyes.

„How's Robbie?" Scarlett asked after some quiet minutes. Lizzie opened one eye glancing at the woman she knows for years.

„Come on we both know you don't care why do you even ask?" she fired back and Scarlett rolled her eyes.

„Just because we stopped taking doesn't mean
That I don't care because I do. I always did and I'll never stop caring neither did I ever stop."

„Then why did you break the contact? It obviously seemed like you didn't want to even know me."

„It's not that I wanted to. But it just felt right at the moment. Please can we leave it behind."

„No. No we can't leave it behind. I was hurt and i still am. Because I don't get what went through your mind. We where best friends and you left.
Do you know how this feels? Being left behind?
Do you know what this does to someone? You clearly don't!!"

„Liz. I'm sorry." Lizzie hasn't heard this nickname in years and it always felt good to hear it...but now it just feels strange to see and hear it leave Scarlett's lips. She wants to have her best friend back. They both do. But Scarlett had her reasons for leaving and she's afraid that this reason will seep through.

„If i can fix it I would. Believe me I would but I can't. Please tell me what I can do to make you feel better."

„Just don't leave again. I missed my best friend."
Lizzie didn't want to be mad anymore even though she is. She didn't expect to see her again. Or even work with her at the same college. It's surreal for her and she's afraid she'll leave again for whatever reason.

Scarlett's heart aches, hearing those words make it worse and remind her why she left. She won't ever be more than a ‚best friend'... but she needs to accept it. If she can't have her in her life as something else she should be happy with having her as a best friend.

„I missed my bestie too." she replied and Lizzie leaned in for a hug that lasted.

Lizzie POV

„Alright class. I hope you all got some energy for the last lesson of the day. Let's start with-."
My eyes drifted through the class and landed on
Nora... I am surprised to see her sit in my lecture after all the things that went down not to long ago.

„Given the time you all had I'll take the assignments in that I gave you two weeks ago.
Place them down on my desk after the lecture and I'll try to correct them as fast as I can."
I was always trying to look through the whole class but somehow my eyes always landed on Nora.

The way she sits with one leg tugged under her thigh. Playing with the pen in hand which was distracting me every damn time. Her eyes where drained in red which means she was crying.
I hate to know that someone makes her feel like shit. She minded my sight ever since I looked at her in the beginning of the lecture.

The lecture went by fast as I glanced at the clock there where only some minutes left.

„Okay this was it for today everyone. I hope y'all gave it all into this assignment. Don't forget that this will effect your grade." i ended the lesson on time and everyone got up to leave. I watched as the stack of assignments got bigger and bigger with every student leaving my class.

„Hey. I would have understood if you didn't show up in my class today. I just wanted to say if you need anything you know where to find me."

„I had to give you the assignment back. But thanks."

„Are you seeing victor now?" I asked after some hesitation.

„Yeah. I need to talk to him in private. He tends to be a bit dominant when it comes to arguments. So
I think it's best if I meet him at his house."

„I can go with you if you want-."

„With all due respect Professor. I'm just a student. You shouldn't care so much for Someone like me.
It's best if we stay out of our personal life's. But I appreciate the fact that you offered it."
She placed her assignment down and left me without giving me the option to say anything else.
