Invitation

Narrator POV

„Hey can I come over I need to let some steam out? We can order take out after?" Nora read Scarlett's  message under the table as she was sitting in the dinning room with her ~beloved~ family.

„Can't. We should stop this anyway." she send it and it didn't take a minute until she received another message.

„What's going on? You've been acting off since weeks and I haven't seen you at college that often."
Scarlett replied and despite the fact that they where just „fuck buddy's" she still cared for her.

„having a lot of migraine lately. Probably still from the accident." Nora tried to cut her off but now her phone started to ring.

„Can you please turn this off so we can spend some decent time together?" her father hissed at her and Nora turned her phone off.

„finally." he rolled his eyes and Nora ignored most of the following conversation.

She's been having a rough time ever since she had to get back with Victor. She lacks on sleep cause he touches her at night. She eats way less since he makes her feel insecure and bad even though she looks fine. The lack of sleep makes her lose focus on the important things like college and friends.

He seems to suck every single Fibre of energy out of her and all she wants is to do is escape this god damn of a living hell. But she can't just ruin Lizzie's life. Even though she can, she would never do it.
Nora is way to selfless for that.

„So we all got invited to a wedding. Which means the whole Lewis family will arrive there. You too Nora. I want us all to attend." Nora's mind was still tangled somewhere else's as her father spoke up.

„Who's getting married?" Nora's brother asked.
She was still playing with the food on her plate so lost in her thoughts that she didn't give a damn about who is getting married until she heard the names.

„You've all met them before at the charity event.
Professor Olsen and her fiancé Robbie are getting married." Nora's fork dropped onto the Porcelain plate making everyone's eyes fall on her.

„Nora is everything okay?" Her step mothers asked as Nora felt a certain hand on her thigh.

„She's just tired from all the studying. Right babe?"
Victor covered for her and she looked at him monoton.

„Mhh tired. That's all." she replied and grabbed her fork again.

„It's so lovely to see you guys back together.
So good that you where able to talk things out."
Jessica added and Victor smiled gently.

„I am the luckiest man that I was able to win her back."

„I can't wait until it's time for you to get married."
Nora's hand gripped so tight around her fork that she started to build bruises in her palm.

„Let them be honey. They are still young.
But Victor you should definitely be Nora's date at the wedding. I am sure that Lizzie and Robbie wouldn't mind a plus one." her father added and he nod at him.

„Oh I would love to."

„Good so it's settled then. I'll tell them that we will be all attending together." her father replied and Nora's mind drifted off once again.

Nora POV

So she is finally getting married huh?
After all this flirting around. All the intense eye contact and event the sex.

It was all nothing? It meant nothing?

Who am I kidding of course it didn't mean anything. What was I thinking? That I'd get to be happy again?

I can't stand the fact that I have to got to this wedding. For the love of god please let me do anything else or let me be anywhere else that day so I don't have to witness this.

How they say their vows. How they hold hands and look at each other so deeply. How they say yes to one another and how they put on each other's rings. I can't do this. I don't want to.
And then I need to be there with Victor. Literally
The person I hate the most after my father.
Or wait. They both probably are on the same level of toxic ass masculinity.

These manipulative, life sucking bastards.
Good that I haven't snapped and went on a full ass murder spree. Not that I haven't thought about it.
Probably more than I should and want to admit.

But I know that karma takes it's time and when the time is there and the time will come and it will be right. I will celebrate this day every year from that day on as if it was the Fourth of July.

That would be my personalized „independence day"
And that would make me probably feel a lot better.

Narrator POV

„I need your help." Lizzie bursted through the gym where Scarlett was alone with all the basketballs.

„Well hello to you too misses." Scarlett's sarcasm faded away instantly as she realized by the walk of her how she isn't in the mood for fun.

„What's going on?" she asked and Lizzie slowed down now.

„It's about Nora. I don't know what to do anymore. She's been skipping a lot of classes and if she continues to be like that she will fail and she will have to repeat the semester."

„Well why don't you talk to her then? I'm sure she will listen." Scarlett advices and Lizzie shook her head.

„I've been at her place. She won't let me in."

„Hmm Strange."

„There is also something else." Lizzie added slow not wanting to bombard Scarlett with informations.

„What is it?" she inquired.

„She got back together with Victor..."
Scarlett's face fell into shock as she heard these words fall out of Lizzie's lips.

„Are you joking?" she asked after coughing.

„No. I am just as shocked as you are believe me.
There has to be something behind this."

„You think so?" Scarlett asked and Lizzie nod.

„I would have never thought that she would get back together with this traitor. She wouldn't go back to him willingly."

„So You say he has something to hold against her?"
Scarlett asked and she nod.

„Yes. I think so. I can feel it. She almost wasn't recognizable when She stood at her door.
She was unhealthily skinny and pale and she had hickeys and... scar I'm scared for her."

„Me too. I haven't seen her for weeks myself."

„How are we gonna get her to open up?"

„I don't know. But I don't want to push her away from us if we put pressure onto her."

„O-okay. We'll figure it out... right?"

„We will liz. We will..." scar reassured her and they shared a good long hug.

A/n:

I hope I can update regularly cause I wanna give you the content I really do. But with school starting now I need to change my rhythm again and work and following my hobby and all that stuff.
It's a lot and it's exhausting so thank you still for sticking around.
