Confused

Narrator POV

...

The beeping machines started to change sounds and this made her almost jump up.

„Nora?" Lizzie whispered as she held her shoulders rubbing them softly.

Her eye lids started to move and a smile crossed Lizzie's face from ear to ear.  She was waiting impatiently for her to wake up.

„Hey Nora. It's me." Nora's eyes started to dart around in a hectic and concerning way.

„Nora? Is everything okay?" Lizzie asked and her head moved to her left where Lizzie's voice came from.

„My eyes I." she blurred out scared. This made Lizzie think about what the doctors said.
That the section of her head injury was connected To her eye sight.

„What is it? C-can you see me?" she asked Nora also terrified if she lost her eye sight or not.

„N-not fully I. What is happening why am I seeing blurry I-." she started to panic and Lizzie pressed the red button next to Nora's bed so that doctors would come in.

„Everything's gonna be fine okay? I'm here with you."

„We saw an alarm go off. Oh Nora good to have you back. I'm doctor Miller-."

„Doc I can't see right. M-my vision is blurry what is going on?" she asked hectic and Lizzie felt how her panic started to take the upper hand on her.
She just woke up and now she has to deal with the next problem.

„Okay. We expected this. You fell down on your head pretty bad and this was unfortunately connected with your eye sight. We have specific medical eye drops that will help you hopefully within minutes."

„I-is it gonna last? Or am I gonna be able to see normal again?" she asked trying to hide the fact that she is terrified.

„We need to do some certain tests as soon as you feel ready. You just woke up and we don't wanna rush things because you still need to heal your head injury." she explained and my eyes darted between the both sharing this important conversation.

„Here. I need you to lean your head back so I can give you the eye drops." she put on some gloves and opened Nora's right eye to give her the first eye drop. Nora squeezed her hands together pressing down onto the blanket she laid under.
I can only imagine how much these eye drops burn.

„Alright. Good. Now the left and I'll give you some minutes to adjust. But I need you to keep your eyes closed."

„It Bruns." she spoke up and the doc hummed at her response.

„I know Nora. It'll be better in a few minutes."
She stroked her shoulder slightly and prepared for the left eye.

„Here you go. Hold on." she whipped Nora's tears that fell from the burning and she took of her gloves after.

„Thank you for helping doc." lizzie added and the doc smiled gently towards her.

„that's what I'm here for. I'm glad I can help."
She replied to her and looked back at Nora.

„Nora is there anything else I should know? Are you in any other pain?" she asked to make sure that she is okay.

„No just a bit of a headache but I guess that's expected since I fell on the head." she answered.

„That's expected yes. But if they are getting stronger and you feel like something is wrong just call for us. I'll check on you after some time and we will see if your eyes changed."

„thank you doc."

„Hold on. Before you go. When can I open my eyes again?" Nora asked while pointing at her eyes.

„Let them closed for another three to five minutes.
The eye drops should work properly

„Thanks doc." Nora thanked her and she smiled gently.

„Glad I can help. I'll leave you both alone then."
She nod and walked off while closing the door.

The room fell into a burning uncomfortable silence because both don't really know what to say or how to speak up. The fact that they spoke last when they slept together wasn't really good. It's been days. Lizzie feels like shit because she left without saying anything and she doesn't know how to approach this situation.

Nora on the other hand is mad yet confused and completely irritated on what is going on. First thing she know is that she saw the walls of the sports hall and the next moments where blurbed out, almost erased.

Nora POV

„H-how Are you feeling?" I heard Lizzie's voice on my left so tender and quiet as if she wasn't planing on saying anything at all.

„Could be better." I mumbled not sure what to reply. If Imma be honest I feel like shit but I'm not gonna admit that.

„Can I get you anything?" she asked another question and I wasn't really down to talk to be honest.

„I just wanna know why you're here?" I blurbed out and even though I still have my eyes closed I can feel how she shifted in her chair uncontrollably.

„What do you mean?" she asked confused.

„Why Are you here? It's not like we have anything going on. You visit your student in the hospital."

„Well it's the student I've slept with so-."

„As if that matter Olsen. Come on. You act like it's important but remember you where the one who just left and I was the one who woke up alone not knowing what to do or how to feel or how to act." I huffed out and I still kept my eyes closed because I didn't really want to capture this moment. I didn't want to see the look on her face so I'll keep them closed as an excuse.

„Got nothing to say? That's what I thought."
I mumbled under my breath and I heard how the door opened.

„Nora? Oh thank god your awake hey!!!" it was Beth to my right walking up to my and giving me a tight hug to welcome me back.

„Hey." I replied simply because I got nothing else to say at the moment. I was still occupied with Lizzie on my left.

„Is everything okay? Why won't you open your eyes?" she asked and I leaned back into the bed.

„I was seeing blurry when I woke up and the doc gave me eye drops to help me out. I needed to keep them close for a couple minutes."
I replied as I started to open them.

„Well they look a bit red if you ask me. As if you where crying. Or high. Or high and crying. You know the drill." she bumped my arm and sat down. Only now she realized now that Lizzie was sitting here. She probably forgot for a moment.

„I mean high from...cutting onions?! Yeah Hmm not that we would do any drugs Professor Olsen..." she says trying to excuse herself from what she said before.

„I should probably leave you guys to it."
She cleared her throat and grabbed her jacket with her purse to leave abruptly.

„Get well soon Nora. Beth I'll see you in class."
She added and left closing the door.
Beth looked back at me as I was still looking at the closed door.

„what happened before I walked in on you?"
She asked me and I looked back at her.

„I don't know. She is confusing me Beth and my headache is killing me so I don't wanna put up with this right now." I answered while leaning back into my pillow wanting to just simply disappear.
