My eyes were glued to the ceiling, the sun was slowly rising as I heard the familiar alarms go off and the wolves shuffling around the room. I glanced at the clock, 04.30.. I hadn't slept all night. My thoughts were all over the place. Her icy blue eyes followed me everywhere and I couldn't shake the feeling I had seen her before, or rather met her before.
My mate that had managed to kill 15 of our finest warriors with her pack, I shivered at the memory of her effortlessly fighting off two wolves at once. I turned on my side, facing the wall. She had probably crossed our border by accident, and I wouldn't ever see her again.
I felt the mattress sink behind me. 'What is up with you? Alora whispered softly, 'You were tossing and turning all night.' My eyes met the Alora her green eyes, her soft features and she greeted me with a kind smile. I sighed, averting my eyes.
Alora wasn't like any of us. Compared to us Alora hadn't necessarily failed this pack, she had found her mate at the age of 19, almost nine years ago. She never mentioned her mate before, just that staying at her old pack caused her too much pain and to fulfill her duty to her old Alpha she joined the Silver Moon pack. But since she refused to take the oath, Rodney only accepted her as Omega to the pack.
'Well?' She snapped me out of my strain of thoughts. 'I did see something last night, and I truly don't know how to handle it.'
Her eyes widened in shock, as she checked the room but most of the Omega's had already left. 'What did you see?' She whisper yelled.
'Last night.. I saw a white wolf. So powerful.. almost Royal like. But.. most importantly, Leto called her my mate.'
Alora squealed happily. 'I am so happy for you!' She hugged me tight, 'Maybe that is what compelled you to go up the hill.'
I frowned. 'Yeah maybe, Leto literally forced me to run over there.'
Alora chuckled, a twinkle in her eyes. 'Do you know who she is?'
I shook my head, 'But according to the little conversation I eave-dropped on is that my mate is supposed to be death. Because Conan apparently killed her.'
A dark cloud covered Alora her light green eyes as I saw something flash inside of them. A low growl rumbled through her body. She took a deep breath and stood, 'We have to get going. Get dressed.'
I frowned at her sudden change of behavior, 'Are you alright?'
She smiled softly, the dark cloud gone. 'Just, hard to believe Conan tried to kill a white wolf.'
I guess she had a point, why would Conan try and kill a white wolf. None of the warriors knew who she was. I changed into the comfortable work clothes. I quickly peeked at my reflection in the mirror, my grey eyes were unusual in our pack, but no one seemed to care. I quickly brushed my long, silver white hair. Leto growled in approval.
Alora waited for me outside, her eyes traveled to the crest of the hill. There was something in her eyes, something that looked like longing. 'You ready?'
'Yes ma'am.'
I followed her to the packhouse. The ballroom was gigantic and would definitely take us the entire day to clean. There was an important announcement tonight. I grabbed the cleaning supplies and groaned as Alora left me by myself. I started to sweep the room when someone bumped into my shoulder. 'Let me help you.' Tony spoke. His blond, curly hair messy but his eyes flickering with joy. It's been a long time we saw him like this. Tony was one of the finest warriors we had and also next in line as Delta.
When his mate died two years ago in a rogue attack, he lost his rank as Delta since he wasn't worth anything anymore to our Alpha. 'Come on, hand me the broom.' He urged and I reluctantly handed it over.
We stayed quiet the rest of the time. We swept the floor, we cleaned the windows and all the cabinets. Alora seemed even more exhausted than usual, ever since our conversation from before she had avoided me. Tony nudged me out of my trance and pointed towards the two wolves in the hallway.
'What do you mean, you can't find them!' Andrew snapped at the Delta. I focused my hearing as Tony stood in front of me, making it less obvious that I was listening along. 'Exactly what I am saying Andrew, we followed their scent over the hill into the woods, past the river and then it started to rain, it is gone.' Our Delta, Jonah growled.
'They have to be out there!' Andrew growled back. 'We have to make sure it is them! They could ruin everything.' He snapped, looking our direction.
Alora walked over, 'What are you two doing?'
Tony didn't dare to speak. 'It's about this morning Alora, I have to find out.' I spoke, breaking the silence. Alora opened her mouth to say something when the sound of growling outside cut her off. Leto forcing me to run outside, Alora and Tony hot on my heels.
I watched Andrew and Jonah shift into their wolf forms and ran towards the tree line. Within seconds them and another wolf came tumbling through the trees, biting and clawing into each other. The small grey wolf hackles rose as her muzzle curled back to expose pearl-white fangs. Her ears were shoved forward, her tail high as she circled the two warriors. Waiting for the right time.
Andrew and Jonah both paced stiffly, tails lashing as they waited for her to move. She kept her weight evenly on all four legs, aware of her surroundings. When suddenly Jonah attacked and without thinking she body blocked his attack with her side, startling him before she bit down on his neck.
'Who is she?' I asked, 'She is going to get herself killed if she keeps this up.' Leto growled lowly, not liking this one bit. A part of me felt overly protective over this little grey wolf, forcing me to walk over. 'Stop!'
Alora grabbed my arm, 'What the hell are you doing?'
The grey wolf snapped her head my way, as she seemed to nod her head in my direction. Within a few seconds the wolf shifted back to her human form. A gorgeous, brown haired woman around 5'6 tall greeted me with a smirk. My eyes taking in the small moon tattoo on her arm. Her green eyes never left mine as she raised her arms. 'Forte tempus.' She whispered, just loud enough for me to hear as she got tackled to the ground.
'Forte tempus.' Leto growled as my eyes started to glow.
