~Kena~
I played with the silver ring, eyeing it carefully. A soft knock on the door startled me and I quickly placed the ring back in the black little box. Aita walked in her eyes lingering on the ring box, 'I see you made up your mind.'
I smiled, placing the ring box back in the drawer of my desk. I knew I wanted to marry Accalia, she was the best of both worlds. She is independent, focused, ambitious and an amazing Luna. I knew she could handle her own. I knew she was just as much as an Alpha as I was, probably even a better one considering she was a Queen. But at the same time she knew when to draw the line and be a Luna to our pack. The soft submissive side, with a heart of gold. She is affectionate, passionate and extremely sexual. Most importantly she was mine.
'What is up Aita?'
'They're back.' Aita said softly.
I instantly stood, I couldn't wait to see my precious mate. But Aita stopped me, 'Tina and Maya. They're in bad shape.'
My eyes widened in shock. I barged out of the door and ran towards the infirmary. Just two days ago they seemed fine when we spoke. They had tracked the scent of Jack to a certain spot yet had lost sight of him. Tina and Maya were both covered in bandages, the smell of the herbs hitting my nose. 'Some of the wounds are infected with wolfsbane,' Aita spoke as she stood behind me. 'I don't know what caused it.'
Anger boiled up inside of me. 'Alpha?' Her voice came out raspy, as if she needed all her strength to talk to me. I instantly moved to her bed as she gave me a weak smile. 'What happened Tina?' I hated to interrogate her at this moment. But we needed the answers, I needed to know what happened to her.
'We followed him, like you said. We just lost track of him, we decided to move west to see if we could find him,' She whispered, 'On the west side we came across his scent again, yet this time he was running towards us.'
'West?' Fear filled my system.
'He was running away from something. They were so tall.. so strong and fast. We didn't stand a chance.. and suddenly they were gone. The boy Jack completely teared to shreds.' Tears were streaming down her cheeks as her heartbeat was beating uncontrollably. Aita pulled me away, 'She needs to rest.'
I growled, pulling my arm away from Aita. 'Are you sure it was West, Tina?'
'Yes.'
I suppressed a snarl and stood, walking away from the infirmary to my office. Mind-linking Ronda, to meet me in the office. I had to retrace their route, I sat down on my chair, tapping my fingers impatiently on the desk as I waited for Ronda. I had unfolded the maps, Accalia her scent lingered around it as I stared at the red marks on the west side.
A soft knock was heard and Ronda walked in. 'Have the others returned?'
She shook her head as she took a seat in front of me. The suffocating feeling returning to my chest, something had happened. I knew it, Alcione pacing in the back of my mind only proved my thoughts.
'What happened?' Ronda asked.
'I am not sure. Tina and Maya have returned, they were attacked on the West side,' I pointed on the map. 'The others went to check out west.'
Ronda mumbled a soft shit as she pressed her fingers against her temple, Ronda had taken her sisters place after the fire. She was an amazing fighter, tracker and that made her the perfect 2nd Beta. Her sister had taught her well.
Ronda checked the map, 'The others took the old road to Lycosura?' She asked, she smiled softly as she stood. Roaming around the other maps until she grabbed another one. Placing them next to each other, she trailed the road on both maps. 'It is the road to Lycosura. Deianira had hidden it as a last resort to be safe. My sister showed me where it was.'
The rest of the day we discussed the many options we had. Kena had joined our conversation in trying to figure out what we were up against. We considered hunters or rogue wolves.
My head was throbbing as Alcione started to whimper in the back of my mind. I groaned as a sharp pain burned through me. Alcione her anger fuming through our bound as she directed it at me. She tried to take control. Another wave of pain hitting me.
'Alpha!' Ronda snapped at me. 'Focus! What is going on!'
I took a deep breath, forcing Alcione to the back ground. 'Accalia. She is in danger.' I stood, jumping off the balcony and shifting mid-air. 'Ronda. Call Liza, Haiko and Kensi.' Ronda growled as she shifted after me. Her wolf was much smaller and she had to really push herself to keep up with me. Within a few seconds the others joined, without a word.
My vison became solemnly focused on my surroundings as I easily dodged trances, trees and rocks. Every fiber in my body burned with anger and guilt. I should have never let her go by herself.
''There is time for me to tell you I told you so later..,' Alcione growled, her growl laced with anger. 'When I find who did this, I will end their miserable lives.'
