The dining hall was filled with large tables, the room was decorated with lights and candles. The food smelled amazing. But most importantly most of the pack members made it. We had kept some on guard just in case of an attack.
Belle and I got to talking as she shared memories she had of my mother. She told me she knew about Apollo the minute my mother kept disappearing. The way my mother ruled Lycosura and how everyone adored her. ''She was the best Lycan Queen we could have wished for and I am sure you will follow her footsteps. I have no doubt.'
Belle kept quiet, swirling the wine in her glass. 'I have made the decision to stay here and help you with your Lycan. I might not be your mother, but she was like a sister to me.'
My heart swelled with warmth at her words and I smiled, 'I would love that very much.'
Kena coughed and clinked her glass, gaining everyone's attention as the room grew silent. Kena smiled, her eyes meeting mine. 'I know the past few week haven't been easy and I speak for both me and Azalea when I say we want to thank you for everything,' She paused, grabbing my hand as I stood next to her. 'Nevertheless we have an important announcement,' Kena her eyes met mine. 'We are getting married.'
Instantly the crowd applauded us, cheering loudly and everyone started to talk all at once. Ivy and Belle congratulated us. Amaruq squeezed the air out of my lungs. Beowulf eyed me carefully, before he smiled. 'Congratulations, Queen. I am happy my sister has found such a headstrong Queen.'
I smiled, 'Thank you Beowulf.'
Slowly the applauding died down, just one person kept on clapping and my eyes darted towards the person. A cold shiver ran down my spine and the room seemed to be running low on oxygen.
Conan.
Kena positioned herself in front of me as she growled at Conan. He approached the table with a smug on his face. Beowulf stood instantly, growling loudly as he towered over Conan. He didn't seem to be too impressed as he watched us lazily. 'Hello brothers,' He paused, his eyes darting to Kena. 'Sister. It has been awhile.'
'You aren't welcome here.' Kena snapped.
'Tsk tsk..' he sat down on a chair, resting his feet on the table as he leaned back against his chair. I didn't know what had come over me as I met his eyes. I felt like the weak little wolf from his pack. I could still feel the slashes of the whip laced with wolfs bane. I could still feel him trying to force himself on me. He tilted his head with a smirk. 'You have grown into a lovely woman Azalea.'
Belle growled, her eyes flickering to her Lycan as she stood in front of Kena and I. 'It is queen Azalea to you.'
Kena her eyes flickered to mine, making sure I was doing alright. But I was having a internal battle with myself and Leto. I was fighting of the dark thoughts that were threatening to consume my mind. Conan looked past Belle and met my eyes. 'Very well.'
'How dare you show your face here, after trying to kill your sister for your own selfish reasons.' Kena growled, shaking with anger. Conan chuckled, completely ignored Kena and his brothers as his eyes were still holding mine. Somehow I couldn't look away, no matter the fear I felt. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of showing any sign of submission.
Kena took a step forward, but I gently placed my hand on her back and stopping her from stepping forward. 'Don't stoop to his level Kena,' I took a deep breath and moved in front of her.
Conan his eyes were glued to me as he patted the seat next to him. 'Leave my pack Conan.' I spoke softly.
He eyed me before he burst out into laughter. His eyes growing a darker shade as his canines showed, he felt superior to me. 'You can't tell me what to do little girl. You are still a pathetic little girl.'
Imagers flashes through my head, the pain of the slashes burned through my body as I recalled the memories. My eyes switching to my Lycan meeting his. 'You don't remember the way you beat me, belittled me, hurt me and forced yourself on me?'
Anger rushed through me, the anger that I had swallowed so many times. Now it rose, it rose to the occasion that required me to protect those I loved. To exert myself and burn whatever reserves were required to survive. I had to let off some steam. I shifted into my Lycan and in a flash I was in front of him, holding him up in the air as I squeezed the air out of his lungs. 'I have wished to kill you so many times. I promised myself that one day I would..' I snarled.
No one dared to stop me. Anger was the controlling factor now. It controlled me and it controlled Leto as we remembered all the times we had felt hopeless. I took a deep breath, I knew this wasn't the way to do so. It wasn't the way a queen would behave. I reluctantly let him go as he dropped to the ground gasping for air. I slowly shifted back.
He growled, but before he could lunge for me. Belle jumped in front of me, snarling loudly and causing Conan to stop in his tracks. 'Not on my watch.'
My eyes met his once again, 'Leave Conan. It is my final warning.'
He growled, fixing his shirt as his eyes slid over the group. Kena wrapped her arms securely around my waist, inhaling my scent.
'Mark my words Azalea. One of these days I will have you by my side, no matter the consequences. Even if it means I have to kill your precious mate.' Four guards instantly moved forward as they forced him out of the pack house. I frowned and shaking off the stress. 'Thank you Belle.'
She smiled, nodding her head. 'You are my queen, Azalea. I am not going to let anything happen to you.'
I smiled, leaning back against Kena her chest. Conan had crashed the party, the one party everyone had needed for a moral boost. Everyone was slowly retreating to their rooms. Some of the pack members started to clean up. Kena gave her last commands as the night shift changed. She then turned to me, lifting me up bridal style as she walked us to our room. She gently placed me down on the bed and kisses me. She rested her forehead against mine. I could feel her emotions through the bond. The anger, the sadness and the fear.
I held her face between my hands. 'Kena, I willlet nothing come between you and I. I am yours.'
