'You ready to come out of your hiding spot?' Naomi spoke as she waved of the last wolf. She smiled as she rounded the corner, opening her arms for a hug and I did, I hugged her tight. She let me go as she motioned for me to follow her inside.
'To what do I own the pleasure of Accalia coming to my humble home?'
I chuckled. 'Just here to ask if you have some herbs to spare for us?' I placed my bag on the table and she eyed me.
'Had another hunting session?' She sighed, I slowly nodded my head. 'Don't worry, Leto showed one of them.. but some of the others are in bad shape and Alpha wants them back in shape before sunset.'
She shook her head as she rumbled through the different kind of herbs. Most of us knew that Naomi completely disagreed with the methods of her pack. But she was assigned to the Silver Moon pack by the council of witches.
'Is it true by the way?' I let the question slip out, she turned to face me. 'What is?'
'That the daughter died, killed rather. Isn't she like part Goddess, aren't they impossible to kill.' I thought out loud. Naomi eyed me before returning to the herbs.
'In all honestly I don't know, deep down I know she hasn't died. Just waiting for her chance of revenge. But then again, no one has seen her for the past nine years. Besides many believe the myth of the daughter is a ruse, a lie to scare wolves or rather a story to flaunt around.'
She handed me the bag with herbs. A small flash of pain surged through me as Leto whimpered in the back of my mind, my eyes flickering from her and back. Naomi her cool hand held my cheek, 'You and Leto are strong headed, you two are going to need each other in the upcoming events.'
With those words she pushed me out of the door, 'Like I said, The Moon Goddess is always watching over us.' Something inside of me urged me to look up to the moon. My eyes widened, there, on the crest of the hill were several silhouettes, wolfish. One stood almost statue-like while the others were sitting behind the wolf. When the foremost wolf started to howl, they were all drawn to join in like they have been invited to a family feast. Together they filled the still air with their howling. I guess that's their hymn, one song, no words, just pure joy. In the back of my mind I felt Leto getting excited as she howled.
Leto urged me to move, something inside of me forced me to move to the wolves up the hill. The moonlight danced on the wolves on the hill as a group of fifteen wolves rushed past me, growling loudly as they ran towards the hill. Leto urgently took control as I shifted and ran after them. 'Accalia! Come back here!' Naomi yelled after me.
Leto her muzzle up in the air as she followed the trail of blood. The sound of bones cracking and whimpering of wolves hit my ears. The sight of the battle shocked me to the core, most of our warriors took their last breath, their fur bloody and marked with bite wounds.
The moon light shone bright on the open field. Moving into the light was a wolf. She was a white-silver, fur glossy and thick. Her paws kiss the earth with lightness and there is serenity in her gaze. We both stood still, frozen, shocked with each other. Leto howled happily as the words mate escaped her. Suddenly she got shoved to the side as she tumbled over the grass fighting off one of our warriors. He was clearly losing and yelped when she bit his leg. Leto snapped out of her trance as she watched our Beta's son lunge at the white wolf as she body blocked him, biting down onto his neck. She growled lowly as she threw him against a tree, knocking him unconscious.
I turned towards the white wolf behind me. She nodded her head lightly to thank me, but I was to focused on the words in my head. 'Mate! Mine!' Leto growled in my head. Wolves of her pack circled us, growling at me but with a light growl of her they quit as they lightly bowed down their heads. She slowly moved forward to me, pressing her muzzle against me before fleeing into the woods.
'Azz?' A voice spoke softly, Alora raised her hands carefully as I snapped my head into her direction. Alora chose to ignore the death warriors as her eyes were solemnly focused on me. 'Did Leto do this?' She pointed to the injured Beta. I slowly nodded my head yes, she sighed as she scratched the back of her neck. 'Well let's hope for your sake that he won't remember.' She moved towards the Beta and carefully lifted him up. 'Get over here, you're going to have to carry him back.'
Leto let out a low growl, refusing to help the boy who attacked her mate. I reluctantly moved over as she placed the unconscious boy on my back. 'Naomi warned me,' She answered my thoughts. 'The others will be here soon.'
Alora placed her hand on my fur as she lead us down the hill to the pack house. Her eyes glanced over to me from now and then but she didn't pry. I knew she was focused on getting us out of here without getting hurt.
Our Alpha marched over to us, whilst commanding the other wolves to gather the remaining bodies. 'What happened!' He growled, grabbing Alora by her arm. A growl escaped my throat and his eyes snapped towards me, his eyes landing on the young Beta. 'Did you save him?'
Alora rubbed her sore arm. 'She did yes. We didn't see what happened, we found him unconscious and rushed him over here.'
Alpha Rodney eyed us carefully, 'Andrew, bring your son to the infirmary.' He instantly moved to pick up his son. 'You,' Rodney watched me. 'Shift.'
I growled but followed his command. 'Office. Now.' He snapped, marching towards the packhouse. Alora handed me some clothes, averting her eyes. 'Please don't get yourself killed, it'll cost me my head.'
I frowned, 'I'll do my best.'
Alpha Rodney waited for me as focused on the gigantic map in front of him on his desk. 'You saved Daniel, the Beta's son.'
I forced myself to refuse to make eye-contact, although Leto hated showing her submissive side but I knew we had to. I nodded my head yes, 'we live to serve, don't we.' I remarked. A growl rumbled through his chest.
'What did you see? What pack.' He questioned.
Instantly the memory returned to me, the white-silver fur and the icy blue eyes that had captured me. My mate and I had no clue who she was. Let alone what pack. 'Nothing sir. I truly have no idea.'
He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow. 'I heard the fight but by the time I got there most of our warriors were death. Alora followed me and we saw Daniel laying there unconscious.'
'You weren't supposed to be in that area. What were you doing?' He interrogated further. I bit my tongue, I couldn't risk him knowing about Naomi providing us with herbs. A knock on the door interrupted the conversation.
'Come in.' He spoke coldly. Andrew walked in, bowing his head lightly at Rodney. Rodney nodded his head, returning his attention to me. 'Tomorrow, 5am. Ballroom duties. Dismissed.'
I dipped my head as a light bow, quickly making my way out of the office. Focusing on the conversation behind the door. 'Well?' Rodney spoke. 'Is it them?'
'I am not sure Rodney. Their scent disappeared into old and unclaimed territory. I highly doubt it's her, it couldn't be. Right sir? Conan took care of that, we killed them.'
