~Kena~

'Mine..' Alcione growled softly before she handed me back the control. A powerful feeling surging through my veins, my muscles and every fiber of my body. Alcione had marked Leto, releasing something deep inside of her. I instantly shifted back, forcing Alcione far back as I wrapped Accalia in my arms.

She was heating up.

'Fuck Alcione.. What did you do..' I whispered, fear nearly suffocating me. She didn't answer, I could barely feel Alcione. Her heartbeat thrummed slowly through the forest, a growl escaped me as I pulled her even closer to my body. 'Please.. little mate.. please.' I whispered.

In the half moon light I could see some wolves approaching us, there was intelligence in their eyes, a shyness, a wariness of the situation. They barked softly as they handed back control, Dani, Rieka and Rollin their eyes greeted me. Dani eyed me curiously as she stepped forward. A low warning escaped my throat. Dani her eyes widened at the sight of Accalia. 'Aita is on her way Kena, don't worry.'

She kept a safe distance. My eyes glued to Accalia her new fresh mark as still laid perfectly still in my arms. My head snapped towards the sound of a branch breaking as Aita emerged from the tree lines. She slowly raised her hands, approaching carefully. 'Let me help Kena.' Aita spoke, her voice in a soft tone. Her eyes roaming over Accalia her body and I couldn't stop the low warning that escaped me, pulling Accalia even closer to my body.

Dani stepped forward at the growl aimed at her mate. My head snapping towards her, 'Don't Dani.'

Aita smiled, raising her eyebrow. 'Kena, if you want my help I will have to examine her.'

It took me a few seconds and a few deep breaths for me to understand the situation. Slowly loosening my grip on Accalia as Aita slowly walked over. 'You can still hold her,' she spoke softly, refusing to make eye contact. 'It'll help you stay calm.'

Aita carefully examined Accalia, my eyes were narrowed as they followed every single movement of her hands as they touched her body, Aita carefully moved her head to the side showing off the fresh new mark that Alcione had given her. It was slowly turning into a lighter silver shade. A low rumble spread through me but Aita chose to ignore me. 'Dani? Get Nimue to the pack house right now.'

'Yes ma'am.' Dani instantly shifted as she disappeared.

'What?' I couldn't contain the anger surging through me. Aita stood, 'Honestly Kena, I don't know. I've never seen anything like this. Nimue might know.'

I took a deep breath as I lifted Accalia back up into my arms as I stood. 'You good to walk? I'm guessing it took a lot of your energy as well.'

'I am fine.' I spoke through greeted teeth, I hated to admit I was struggling to stand on my feet. Rieke her hand on my arm stopped me. 'Let me Kena..' She spoke carefully. 'Let me help.' Her eyes glancing over Accalia. I bit my lip, 'Alright..'

Rieka carefully took Accalia over into her arms. 'Please be careful.'

'Kena, trust me. I won't let anything happen to my Luna.' Rieka spoke as she carried Accalia in her arms. My eyes met hers, Rieka was my best friend and my Beta. I would trust her with my life, I slowly nodded my head. 'I know.'

We quickly hurried to the pack house and the infirmary where Nimue was waiting patiently for us. Rieka carefully placing Accalia on an empty bed as she took a step back. Nimue eyed me, 'Tell me what happened,' her hands examining Accalia. 'From the beginning.'

I frowned as I ran my hand trough my hair. 'Alcione happened.'

Nimue nodded as I had just explained everything perfectly as she tilted Accalia her head to the side. Her neck revealing the fresh mark. Nimue her finger softly trailing over the mark and a small whimper escaped Accalia her mouth as I rushed by her side.

'Aita!' A nurse yelled out, 'Come here.'

Aita immediately rushed towards the nurse, my eyes following the panic to the closed door in the corner of the room. The heartbeat monitors beeping loudly. Nimue eyed me, grabbing my face as she forced me to look at her. 'What did you feel?'

I sighed, 'Something.. so strong Nimue.. so ancient and angry. Yet I felt completely safe. I've never felt something like that before.'

'Nimue, you have to see this.' Aita her voice called out and Nimue instantly stood. My eyes lingered on Accalia but I knew I had to check what ever was going on. Nimue roamed around the room, smiling brightly. ''What the hell is going on?'

Nimue clapped her hands together in delight, pointing to my old friends, they're breathing on their own dear.'

'That is not possible.' I muttered, eyeing Aita but even she seemed to be taken aback by the situation in front of us. In the past few years they had needed machines to breath, to stay alive and suddenly they were breathing on their own. I walked back to Accalia, eyeing her as I listened to her heartbeat. It was still slow and steady.

Nimue seemed to be flowing over the floor and walked up to me. She held my hand. 'Can you feel Alcione, dear?'

I frowned, shaking my head.

Nimue chuckled, 'It is quite interesting to know you have lived with Alcione for centuries, yet she kept this one secret from you.'

'What secret?'

'That Deianira had one last trick up her sleeve before she disappeared.' Nimue spoke softly.

I gazed down on my mates beautiful face, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as I kissed her forehead. 'What do we do now?'

'For now we wait.'
