I ran through the forest. My paws flew across the ground, easily dodging tree roots, rocks and various other obstacles.

The loud growling from the wolves pursuing grew closer as I pushed myself further, my senses heightened in on our surroundings. The sound of my paws connecting with the soft dirt and the crunching of the leaves were loud enough for my attackers.

My breathing was fast, the build up anxiety and adrenaline urged Leto to take control. She hated the feeling of being prey, she rather did the hunting herself. 'It is over when you quit, not when you lose.' She growled softly, she was the wolf and she did the hunting.

The fur at my neck and tail fluffed up as she ran towards the closest wolf, using her body to shove him to the ground as she bit down on his neck, causing him to whimper. Leto growled loudly as she challenged the other warriors.

'Enough.' Our Alpha boomed, I instantly shifted back to my human form. Leto showed no remorse as she stayed close to the surface. Our Alpha eyed the injured warrior, 'Bring him to the pack nurse.' He ordered.

My eyes roamed over the injured Omega's and my best friend Alora. 'What about them?' I asked, eyeing the beat up wolves.

'They'll heal before the next chase training.' He spoke coldly, not a single trace of remorse to the Omega's of his pack. He turned and marched back to the pack house, the warriors hot on his trail. I growled under my tongue as I moved to the closest Omega.

It was all we were good for, being prey, being practice targets for the warriors. They didn't care whether we lived or died during the training.

Most of the Omega's helped each other up as we walked back to the shed we lived in. Alora turned to face me as she lived up the younger boy whose arm was badly injured. 'You need to be more careful with the Alpha,' She spoke softly but sternly. 'You are going to get us hurt in more ways than being just prey.'

I ran my hand through my silver hair. 'It's just frustrating, I wish I could do more.'

She sighed as she helped the boy sit down. 'All we can do is survive day by day, besides if you want to help. Please ask you're the Naomi for some herbs. It'll help speed up the healing process.'

I slung my bag over my shoulder, 'Yes ma'am.'

Maneuvering slowly through the trees, trying to avoid as much attention as I could. The scent of the fresh herbs met my nose as I reached the small cabin where Naomi lived. I rounded the corner and saw her sitting on a tree trunk, her grey long hair was braided, her green eyes looked full of life and she smiled at the eager younger wolves in front of her. Hanging onto every word she said.

'But you know kids, it wasn't a myth. The Moon Goddess birthed four children, also known as our Elders. The direct children of the Moon Goddess are incredibly powerful. Children gifted by the Gods themselves.' She spoke softly.

Wow.. really?' A young boy squeaked, hurting my ears.

Naomi chuckled. ''Yes dear. Elder Beowulf found his mate quite fast and created the Midnight pack, they live in harmony and they enjoy the small territory they have. Elder Amaruq found his mate only a year after his brother and they created the Blue Moon pack. The third son, Conan, created the Silver Moon pack by himself...' She paused for a minute.

'He found his mate a few years after he had created the pack and they became one of the strongest pack to ever existed. A little after their wedding they created the new rule that every wolf, at the age of 18, had exactly two years to find their mate. Believing that mates made each other stronger and in that way, make the entire pack stronger.'

'Is that why my sister has been send off to find her mate?' A young girl asked and Naomi smiled. 'A mate.. is one of the most wonderful things that could happen to you. It is the most amazing connection you could have. You live and breathe just for them. Made for you by the Moon Goddess herself.'

'What happened to the daughter?' Someone asked, this spiked my curiosity.

'People believe she has died when her territory was set on fire and no one made it out alive.'

Everyone gasped.

'So her mate is just going to wander the earth alone? Not knowing who she was?' A little girl whispered.

'That's sad.' A boy chimed in and everyone agreed.

'Have some faith dear children. As I recall her mate isn't as easy to break as many others like to think.'
