"What?!" King Brennus exclaimed, "You can't be serious?"
"I'm very serious unfortunately." Rieka nodded, "It doesn't make sense any other way. Based on the pictures and maps of your base in San Francisco, it would've been very difficult for any supernatural to enter the building due to the magical wards protecting from any ill intent inscribed in the stones above all entrances and windows. Which means they needed the Prince to come out of the building to be more vulnerable. As Lycans, you are one of the most powerful supernaturals on the planet. Your brute strength and speed is only outmatched by angels, demons and the gods themselves. An ancient vampire lord might give you a run for your money, but I'd still put my money on the Lycan in that fight. So they would've known that the escort would be minimal. Four Lycans on a patrol is easily overkill, especially if one is a royal. They would've had to have known the patrol routes ahead of time and scouted where the best place to ambush would be. The spot they used was the only area on the route that is so densely wooded that sightlines are difficult and the pathway winds quite a bit, making it more vulnerable to blind spots. By separating the group, they lessened the threat exponentially, making it much easier to take the Prince."
Queen Leda sighed as realization hit her, "Meaning the only way that abduction was successful was with insider help."
"Unfortunately, it's entirely possible that the mole in San Francisco isn't the only one. The attacks on the werewolf packs have appeared random, but after looking over the facts of each, every single one was carefully planned. It must have taken weeks of scouting and planning for each. The fact that only one wolf per pack was killed is the only thing I can't understand. If you have the drop on your enemy, why not press the advantage?" Raziel queried.
"Two reasons," King Brennus furrowed his brow, "Sowing fear or confusion and testing our reaction times and resources."
"So this means that it's entirely possible that we might even have an informant here, correct?" Queen Leda looked at Raziel. Raziel nodded, "Unfortunately yes. You must not speak to anyone about this. Anyone that knows the information up until tonight can keep thinking what they know. The only people that are able to be above reproach are in this room, and our family back home. We need to keep this circle as small as possible."
At that moment Tobias walked in with a golden box in his hand. He walked up to the king and handed him the box, "The item you requested Your Highness."
The king grinned broadly, like he didn't have a care in the world, "Thank you Tobias! Please go check on the staff for me will you? We will be finishing up here shortly."
Tobias bowed low and left without saying a word. King Brennus handed them the box, "In here is an item of Fynn's that meant a lot to him. It should help you find him if you have a witch you can trust to use a locator spell. It will also prove to Fynn that you're there to help since he won't know you."
"Thank you your majesty," Rieka nodded and took the box from him. Queen Leda smiled sheepishly, "Before you go, may I ask a favor of you Alpha?"
"Of course your majesty. Anything."
"Will you show me your wolf? I would very much like to meet her, and so would my wolf, if you're willing."
Rieka smiled at the request, "I would be honored for our wolves to meet your highness."
"Excellent!" King Brennus stood and ushered them back to the throne room, "We have plenty of room in the throne room. I may join as well if that's acceptable."
They all walked back to the throne room and stopped in the middle. Rieka looked at them, "Whenever you'd like me to shift I'm ready." Queen Leda nodded, "Whenever you wish then."
