After changing out of his suit, Steve made his way towards the bridge. As he went he passed you. Instantly noticing your tear-stained cheeks. He reaches out to put a hand on your arm.

"Hey you alright?" He asks concerned.

You shake your head, you hand coming up to cover your mouth. As you desperately try to keep your tears at bay. Steve sighs pulling you into a hug, holding you tight as you sobbed into his chest.

"Loki killed Coulson" you cry shaking your head.

"I heard, you couldn't have stopped him" Steve tells you, even though he knew you wouldn't fully believe it yourself.

"He- he trapped Thor in the cell, and he- he dropped it, I don't know if he's alive or not" you sobbed.

Steve felt his heart drop, knowing exactly what it felt like. He rubbed your back soothingly as you continued to cry. Once your tears receded, he looked down at you.

"I know I don't know Thor as well as you do, but he seems like a pretty tough guy, if anyone was gonna survive that it would be him" Steve tells you reassuringly.

You nod your head wiping away your tears "I need to go find him, just to make sure" you tell him.

"Of course, I'll let Fury know, stay safe out there" Steve tells you.

"Thank you Steve" you sigh before giving him one last hug and walking off.

As Steve walked into the bridge, he saw Fury stood by the table, Tony sat with his back to Steve.

"Y/N has gone to go see if Thor survived the fall" Steve says as he sat down.

Fury just nods as he looks down at what he had in his hands.

"These were in Phil Coulson's jacket, I guess he never did get you to sign them" he sighs throwing the cards down onto the table in front of Steve.

Steve recognised the cards instantly, they were the collectible Captain America cards Coulson had been telling him about. Steve had promised to sign them once all of this was over, now he'd lost that chance.

He sighed leaning forward to pick up the one of him in his USO suit. Blood covered the top half of the card. Steve could barely focus on what Fury was saying as he stared down at the card.

"Yes, we were going to build an arsenal with the tesseract, I never put all my chips on that number though, because I was playing something even riskier" Fury explains walking over to stand by the chair a couple down from Steve.

"There was an idea, Stark knows this, called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could so something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles we never could" Fury continues walking around the table toward Tony.

"Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea. In heroes" he finishes.

Tony suddenly gets up from his seat glancing around slightly before storming off.

"Well... it's an old fashioned notion" Fury adds before turning back to Steve "so apologies for not telling you about phase 2, but I can assure you I wouldn't go through with it if I thought this team idea could work" fury sighs.

Steve sighed getting up from the table and heading off in the direction Tony had gone in. Steve finding him in the detention centre staring out at where Loki's cell used to be.

"Was he married?" Steve asks leaning up against the railing trying to strike up a conversation.

"No, there was a cellist I think" Tony answers not turning to face him.
