Chapter 10: The First Mission

Climbing up the stairs you made sure to keep the pizza boxes level. The last thing you wanted was pizza on the floor. Getting to your destination you balance the pizzas in one hand, knocking on the apartment door with the other.

"Just on time, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to pay" Steve sighs, a playful twinkle in his eyes.

"You didn't pay" you point out as you walk into his apartment.

"Are you sure about that?" He asks holding out some cash.

"Put that away, now what movie are we watching?" You ask putting the boxes down on the coffee table.

Steve chuckle putting the cash back in his pocket before moving to sit beside you on the couch.

"The lord of the rings" he explains holding up the DVD box.

"Oh interesting! Put it on" you smile opening up your pizza box and grabbing a slice.

"Oh before I forget, what are your plans for Thanksgiving?" Steve asks as he grabs a slice of pizza.

"I don't know, I saw Tony texted me about it, but I don't even know what it is" you tell him.

Steve looks at you confused for a moment, his mouth forming a small 'o' when he realised "oh right yeah, okay so back when Europeans first arrived here in America, they were struggling to survive so the natives helped and we celebrate thanksgiving to remember that" Steve explains.

"Oh that's nice" you smile.

"The story has been watered down a lot, the rest of our history with the natives hasn't been so great but it's nice to celebrate one of the few times we got along" Steve explains with a small shrug of the shoulders.

"So how do you celebrate? Is it like how you celebrate New Year's or Christmas?" You ask, Steve had already told you about a few holidays people celebrate here.

"Kinda like Christmas in the sense that we have a large meal" he explains.

"Oh so like a feast?" You ask excitedly, feasts were something you always enjoyed on Asgard.

"Yeah, we say what we're grateful for and them completely gorge ourselves on food" Steve laughs.

"Now that is a holiday any Asgardian would love" you smirk taking a large bite of your pizza.

"So, you gonna accept Tony's invitation to have thanksgiving at the Tower?" Steve asks.

"Are you?" you question.

"Only if you are, I would suggest we did our own but considering you've never had it before and I'm not the best cook I think it would be best if we accepted his offer" Steve smiles making you laugh.

"Okay, then to Stark's we go" you agree with a smile.

Steve hits play on the movie and the two of you settle in to watch the movie. Steve had told you that the movie was based on books that followed one he read back before the war. The lord of the rings books though were published while he was in the ice though so while he recognised some of the characters he was still going into the story blind.

Halfway through the movie both of your phones buzzed. Pulling out your phone you read the message, smiling to yourself when you saw it was a mission. You glance over at Steve to see him already looking at you.

"Looks like we'll need to finish the movie later" he smirks.

"Ready for our first mission?" You ask.

"More than ready doll" he smiles.
