Sidney's POV:
After saying goodbye to Adeline, I walked to the parking lot to get my car. It should have been Adeline walking along with me but she had an excuse about going on a date with Sage.
Sage, that girl, there's really something wicked about her. The first time we met at Marcus' birthday, the way she was looking at me, I already knew it. Yet, here she is, she still made her way to Adeline's heart.
I opened the door of my car but abruptly stopped when I heard loud voices somewhere. It's actually too loud, I am surprised that no one has confronted them yet. Being my curious self, I closed my car's door and walked quietly to where the voice is.
"BAKIT NGAYON PA?! MAY LAKAD PA NAMAN KAMI!"
"Kanina ka pa sumisigaw! Tsaka, huwag mo na ipagpatuloy na makipagrelasyon! Malapit na umuwi si Alex dito!"
I was still leaning against a pillar so they can't see me. I understood most of their words, but what makes this weird is that one of the voices was familiar to me, that shrilling and irritating voice.
"Don't mind my business, Jakob. I can do what the hell I want!"
"Please, maaawa ka naman sa kaniya! Kitang-kita ko kanina kung gaano siya ka-dissapointed sa'yo!"
They stood there quietly for a moment so I made it my chance to peak a little.
"Sage..." I gasped and hurriedly returned to the back of the pillar before she can catch me looking at them.
Are they talking about Adeline? Is she the reason why Adeline is a bit down today?
"I won't forget about this, Jakob. If you ever tell Alex anything about this-"
"Then what?"
I heard Sage let out a loud sigh.
"Just- I will deal with this, okay? But for now, don't interrupt or say unnecessary things to her again."
"But it was the truth! You're a cheater and you never changed!"
I heard footsteps coming in my direction which made my heartbeat elevate a bit.
Jesus, is this what committing a crime feels like? It suddenly feels illegal to eavesdrop.
"Whatever, Jakob."
I cursed under my breath and casually walked ahead of them as if nothing happened, but while I was walking, I didn't hear any footsteps walking behind my back. Where the hell did she go?
Out of instinct, I shortly looked behind me and saw Sage standing there with a cold and stoic look on her face.
"Hey, I know you." She squinted her eyes as she walked beside me.
"Really?" I brought out a tough face to make her a little bit intimidated by me.
I saw her expression shift for a bit but she quickly covered it. I still got it, I always got this effect around people.
"So...close ba kayo ni Adeline?"
Closer than you can imagine.
"You could say that." I nonchalantly said. I reached my car and was about to open the door but a hand quickly blocked me from doing it.
"Do you like her?"
She still wears the same cold look but I know deep inside she's just nervous and maybe scared. Well, I am taller than her, which gains me enough points for intimidation.
I raised an eyebrow and scoffed at her question.
"Do you?" I mockingly said. She noticed my tone and her face quickly turned into an angry one, which made me kind of want to laugh.
"Were you just mocking me?"
Why am I even bothering to talk with this pathetic excuse of a liar?
I decided to just ignore her remark and forcibly flicked her hands away from the door of my car. When I was safely inside, I rolled down the windows for a little bit, in case she pulls out my hair or something.
"A little advice? She doesn't like trips to carnivals." I smirked and rolled down the windows before she could shout again.
I heard her shouting in profanities which earned me a laugh and turn the radio's volume up.
"This will be fun."
I parked outside our house and lazily entered the door. I slumped on my way to the couch and close my eyes for a bit. Man, it is only my second day at school and I feel tired already.
"Get your lazy ass up, someone's here."
I groaned and sat up straight. I stared at Marcus and gave him a questioning glare. "There's a guest? Where?"
Marcus didn't answer me and only gave a thumbs-up before disappearing to the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes and returned to lie down on the couch again. I don't have time for his sick games, not today, I need a good sleep.
"Dumaan lang muna ako sa bahay, sorry kung natagalan."
Within a blink, I was already sitting up with my hair fixed. Why is she here? Did she just ditch her date with Sage? That's hella funny.
"Ads, you're here...?" I asked but already know the reason why.
"Yeah, sorry for the short notice." She smiled a little but I didn't miss the emotion her eyes held. Damn, that Sage girl surely hurt her.
"Don't apologize, you're free to come here anytime you want." I smiled widely and stood up from the couch to go up to my room, I still need my sleep. I only heard a faint 'Ok' from her before I closed the door of my bedroom.
