Sidney's POV:

Adeline is in danger. It was her first time dialing me through an emergency call, which only meant one thing... she was in deep danger.

With my newly found adrenaline rush, I ran to the school's entrance and traced where she might have gone. The cars in the parking lot aren't too many, which will be easier for me to find her. There are no noises, which is weird.

Maybe she just accidentally pressed it?  I removed the thought from my head and walked further into the parking lot.  As I walk cautiously on the sidewalks, I could hear muffled voices coming from a distance. I think the voice might come from inside a car.

Inspecting the cars nearby, I still tried to distance myself from them to not make me look suspicious. I stopped when it became quiet again until the muffled voices can be heard again but this time it was louder.

"Adeline..." I ran to the back of the car and peeked at the windows. The light inside wasn't turned on, but because the lights around here are too bright, I can see a little bit inside the car.

My head went to the driver's side and saw a figure of a woman, and to the passenger's side too. It became quiet again. I was starting to calm down until the car's engine suddenly started to run. I stepped a little further and picked the nearest rock I could grab. It's not too big but I sure hope it can do its job.

After all, this is for Adeline. I confidently stepped into the driver's view and smashed the rock against the car's window. To my surprise, it cracked and the noise was too loud that I jumped a little from shock. I took the chance to see who was the driver and my eyes widened to see the girl I am currently so furious about. It's Sage.

"S-Sidney? Why-"

I punched her in the face in reflex, but I quickly retreated my aching knuckles back and yelped in pain. Why did I even do that?!

"SIDNEY! HOLY CRAP, GET ME OUT OF HERE!" Adeline's scared voice got my attention so I quickly put my hand inside the car to press the button for the doors. Once I pressed it, Adeline swiftly opened the door and ran to my side.

"Oh my god! She was about to take me to her home!" She rushed to hug me tightly. I was too shocked at the moment to forget that I also have to hug her back. I protectively and gently wrapped my hands around her waist and drew her closer to me.

"You're good now," I whispered. When she broke our hug, that was time I realized that she was already crying. My hands automatically made their way to wipe off the tears coming down her delicate face.

"Hey, you're safe now."

Something was urging me to hug her again, but taking the scene before us into account, we really need to get out of here first.

"Right, we need to leave NOW." Adeline nervously took my hands and clasped them with hers. We ran to my car and once we are settled inside, I quickly started the car's ignition.

"Ma, sorry kung medyo late ako ng uwi. May ginawa lang kasi kaming extra credits sa school eh."

I took a quick glance at Adeline and worry was all over her face.

"Opo ma, ihahatid po ako ni Sidney pauwi. Sige po, bye."

The ride became silent after that. It took me a couple of times to look at Adeline to check if she was doing good.

"Hey," I called for her attention to which she quickly responded.

"I promise to never leave your side, again." I smiled and turned my focus back to the road.

Unexpectedly, Adeline inched closer to my seat and rest her head against my shoulder. So, with my free hand, I decided to intertwine our hands as I drive down the busy road.
