Chapter 27 - Palawan III

Rei's POV

"What are you doing?"

She shrugged, "Nilalamig kana, use it baka manigas ka nalang 'jan bigla pero pwede naman kitang painitan." She teasingly said but I just rolled my eyes.

I glared at her clothes, she's just wearing tube for pete's sake, "At ikaw hindi? You're just wearing a tube."

I was about to remove her jacket on me but she quickly grabbed my hand that made me flinched in contact. I saw her swallowed hardly while eyeing our hands intently. Her hand was slightly shaking that made me smile internally. She got a guts to hold my hand but it looks like she's hurting from it. I was about to pull my hand when she gripped it harder as she spokes, "Pahawak lang, sayo na jacket ko, akin muna kamay mo...m-mas mainit kasi ang palad mo e."
Did she just stuttered? The great Dane Perez stuttered in front of me, that's new.

I gaze at our hand intently then lift at her, the charming look she gave me made my knees weak. It was fascinating to hear something so profound and personal come out of Dane's mouth, something I couldn't possibly connect to. I felt her hand slip into mine at such a moment, sending shivers down my spine. I get that feeling whenever she's near me. I felt weak when she looked at me, and I wanted to know if she felt the same way I did.

I don't know, but my heart was beating so hard, her hand was soft and warm. It gave me comfort that I didn't expect I would feel from her. She's stupid and I hate her, but being with her now, watching the sunset along the breezing coast, It felt surreal, and also irritating.

It's weird.

After several attempts of pulling my hand I gave up, she's so stubborn to let me go. I jumped slightly when she moved her hand and put our hands in intertwined. Nakita ko pa ang palihim niyang pagngiti kaya mas lalo akong nagtaka sa kinikilos niya.

Hindi ko alam kung parte ba 'to ng panlalandi niya o nababaliw lang talaga siya.

Silence took us until she spokes, "And to answer your question, yea, I left during our 4th year."

I asked, "Why?"

She let her usual playful smile, "Andami mong tanong ano? Interesado kana sakin n'yan?" Tanong ko pa habang taas baba ang kilay.

I rolled my eyes because of her too much confidence. I let a small grin that caught off her guards, "What if I said yes?"

I saw how her eyes widened upon my response and I can't help but to grinned more. But all of a sudden it faded away because of her response.

"Then let's get married."

I also choked in my own spit, "You're crazy."

She shrugged, "I know."

I shook my head in disbelief, "Buti alam mo."

Kanina lang ang ayos niya kausap tapos mapapalitan nanaman ng kalandian niya.

Nagstay pa kami ng ilang minuto bago mapagdesisyonang bumalik sa hotel. It's just 7 in the evening but I'm feeling tired so much. I'm in the passenger seat while Dane was driving silently. She's been like that since we've talked about her disappearance three years ago. I felt guilty for asking her too much that made her shut just in a snap.

"Can I ask you something personal?"

She nodded, smirking, "You left three years ago without saying anything to your friends. And until now you're still not talking about it to them." Her playful smile because lopsided, "Why did you leave?" I hesitantly asked.

She sighed, her face become darker and it's honestly gives me chills, "I had to."

As I expected she would answer it as she answered her friends. Medyo napapasama kasi ako minsan sakanila lalo na pag wala siya, sumasabay ang mga kaibigan niya samin nila Ate Kaye tuwing lunch or 'pag nakakasalubong kami nakikipagkwentuhan sila. At napaguusapan din nila si Dane minsan, ang pagalis at dahilan niya. Pero isa lang ang laging sinasagot sakanila ni Dane.
