"Rei, are you a vampire?"

She stares at me blankly. "Are you dumb?"

"What?" Wala sa sariling sagot ko huli na ng marealize ko ang sinabi shuta 'san nanggaling 'yon? Ampota vampire demonyong labi kasi 'yan.

She was eyeing me as if I were some kind of puzzle, and the longer she stared, the more embarrassed I felt. I puffed my cheeks, glancing away. What is happening to me? This is so weird.

Clearing my throat, I turned back to her. "Come on, sit down. Let me check your foot properly so I won't feel bad about your little blunder," I said bluntly, guiding her back into her seat.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked, sounding genuinely confused.

"I told you, it bothers me seeing you limping around looking like an idiot," I replied with a smirk.

She rolled her eyes, swatting my hand off her sleeve. I avoided touching her arm directly because, apparently, she's got electric skin or something.

"You don't hav—"

"Just stop talking," I interrupted. "You're not the only one I have to deal with today."

I glanced at my watch and muttered a soft curse—it was already five o'clock.

"You have somewhere to be? Just go, don't worry about me," she said, but it sounded more like a reluctant statement than a suggestion.

"I do have plans, someone is waiting on me. So maybe try cooperating a little, Anno—you're not gold," I muttered. "Now, go home after this and do the RICE method. It looks like you've sprained your foot." I added, looking back up at her.

"Rice what?" she asked, confusion all over her face.

"What kind of nursing student are you?" I teased. She rolled her eyes, mumbling something I couldn't quite catch.

Bee? Buzzing bee? Whatever.

"I know what happened to my foo—"

"I know you're not that stupid, but you sure act like it sometimes," I cut her off with a grin.

"Ang kapal sino kaya 'tong tatanga tanga maglakad." Bulong niya pa pero rinig ko naman tangina minsan no madalas wala talagang filter ang bibig ng babaeng 'to.

"Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. I believe you are the kind of student who understand what I mean." I stated.

Hindi naman na siya nagsalita pa ulit kaya mabilis akong natapos sa ginagawa.

After I finished bandaging her right foot walang sabi sabing umalis siya sa pagkakaupo sa sasakyan ko hindi manlang nagthank you or nagsalita manlang basta nalang nagwalk out.

While driving, I couldn't shake off what happened with Anno. She'd suddenly gone quiet, and I wasn't sure if it was because of something I'd said or done. I was just teasing her, after all—she couldn't have taken it seriously, could she? I chuckled to myself, hoping she didn't take my help the wrong way. She got a free service, for heaven's sake; she should be grateful, not offended. My thoughts faded as I pulled up to the mansion.

I heaved a sigh, putting on a cheerful smile as I stepped out of the car and made my way inside. Margo had texted me that they were in the living room, so I headed there and found my little boy, Arki, sitting quietly with a sad look on his face. Seeing him like that tugged at my heart, and I noticed Margo shaking her head at me, waggling her finger like I was in trouble.
