The janitor stood straight and looked into my eyes. They were narrow and gave off a look of suspicion. My hands were shivering as I hid them behind my back, not out of fear, but out of coldness.
"What are you talking about?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Don't hide it, I know you're not from this time period" He set aside the mop to a wall just to cross his arms and judge. "I'm honestly surprised no one has found out yet. Ah well, as if they'll believe me anyway" he shrugged his shoulders.
"How did you even know in the first place?"
"Who wouldn't be suspicious of a woman emerging out of an empty ball pit?" The man rolled his eyes. The ball pit wasn't exactly empty, Noah was there too but yeah, I was the only adult in there.
"Are there others here from another time period too?" I asked.
The janitor hung his head back for a while before returning his gaze to mine."There were; two people to be exact until they died after 2 days. Do you wanna know how they died?" the janitor tilted his head. I don't know his name, alright? He doesn't have a nametag with him and I'm certain he won't tell me anyway.
"How?"
"Severe headache and nausea"
"And how do you know this?"
The janitor started sweeping the checkered floor again. "Didn't you feel lightheaded when you arrived here?"
"I did but I think it's because I was hungry"
"Possible, but surprisingly, you're still alive" he spoke in a suspicious manner. It's like he's telling me I should die. "Tell me (Y/N), why are you really here?"
"I didn't choose to be here, I was trying to get away"
"Get away from what?" he questioned. I didn't want to say I was trying to get away from getting killed because it was my fault in the first place. My mind was desperately searching for another reason but nothing comes to mind. "*sigh* Fine, don't tell me"
"Don't even bother changing the events of the past, it's only going to cause you trouble" he said. "But soon, you'll find yourself back into the ball pit, whether you like it or not"
His words sent shivers down my spine, I fiddled with my hands and my breathing was heavy. The janitor let out a final sigh and headed to the janitor's closet. There's no way of telling if his words were actually true but he knows I came from another timeline, that's already frightening enough. I need to be careful, especially of William. He must never find out about this because that ball pit is my only way of getting home.
I ruffled my hair and made my way to the Employees Room with a nervous look on my face. When I opened the door, I saw a woman with wavy blonde hair tied in a mid-ponytail and a white uniform, holding a cup of coffee. "Oh hi! You must be (Y/N) right?" the woman turned in my direction, and I was met with pretty emerald eyes.
"Yeah, I haven't seen you around here though.." I replied. Who is this?
"I've been on break for a while because of my family, now I'm back!" she scratched her cheek and stood up. "I'm Vanessa, hopefully, we get along" she held out her hand and I firmly shook it. Close up, she has bright green eyes with long eyelashes and light freckles. She also has swept bangs across her forehead. Under her hair, Vanessa has light rainbow streaks at the ends.
"What do you do around here?" she asked.
"Uh... I help William fix the animatronics" I tilted my head. I'm not exactly mechanic material.
"Oh? You call Mr. Afton by his first name? That's surprising. So you're also the one who took care of my job. Sorry for leaving Foxy's repair to you, I was supposed to take care of it before I went on a break" Vanessa said all of that in one breathing, my goodness how do you do that? Could you also be the one who misplaced the fuses?
