🎶It's late in the evening
She's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her makeup
And brushes her long blonde hair🎶And then she asks me
"Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight"A terrific riff of a guitar echoed in my ears, oddly accompanied by the sound of a beeping monitor. Every bit of me felt stiff and cold, my eyes felt heavy as well and the moment I opened them, I was met by a white ceiling with two rectangular fluorescent lights. I turned my head to see where the beeping sound came from and now saw a heart rate monitor. On top of it was a portable gray radio.
I attempted to sit up but I sensed my hands being tied with something, only to see an IV needle connected to an IV bag hanging right next to a bed. There was also a heat compress laid on my chest which provided me a little bit of comfort amidst the coldness of the.... hospital room?
Right after that thought, a door creaked open and there stood a woman wearing a nurse's uniform. She saw me struggling to get up so she rushed to my side, "Whoa whoa, take it easy Miss (Y/N)."
"You... you know my name?" I asked, somewhat sounding terribly breathy and raspy.
"Yes, we saw it on your erm... ID on your wallet," she answered unsurely. She had a nametag on her chest, Cindy was her name. Her chocolate hair was neatly tied in a low bun with a nurse's cap hiding it. Her uniform reached down to her knees, paired with white stockings.
"How... did I get here... exactly?" I asked another.
"Our receptionist saw you enter the lobby and suddenly collapse," she replied. "The cut on your arm and abdomen has been stitched up. The stab on your abdomen was deep but fortunately didn't hit anything vital. However, we suggest minimizing your movements for you still have a large bruise on your chest," I checked my arm, spotting black threads that closed the gash. It was still red, probably because of the blood accumulating there but I'm relieved it's stitched up now. "You have undergone a few occasions of hemorrhage on the nose a few days ago for unknown reasons. We are thankful it hasn't occurred again."
"Days ago?" I pondered, "What do you mean?"
"Miss (Y/N), you've been unconscious for three days..."
That hit me like a truck. Three days?! I get that could be normal after surgery or something but holy shit, that's a long time. Panic began to set in, resulting in the monitor beeping at a faster pace but Cindy gave me comfortable back rubs which actually helped. "I heard from my coworkers you were dressed nicely when you arrived," she tried to lighten up the mood. "What was the occasion?"
"Well um... I was supposed to go out on a date," I replied in almost a whisper, "And it didn't go exactly as planned because he was missing."
"Oh my... I'm so sorry to hear that," she frowned. "We couldn't contact anyone you know so do you wish to make a call right now so they can visit you?"
