Paradise Bound

Chapter 5

I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock ringing. I quickly turn if off and hop up out of bed.

I have a quick shower before getting some breakfast.

(I'm so nervous but also so excited to start work today. I just hope I can do the job as well as Isaac's last assistant Jeanette.)

I look through my wardrobe and finally settle on an outfit for my first day.

After I fix my hair and makeup I grab my bag and leave my apartment.

As I enter the lobby I see Isaac in all his glory standing at the reception desk talking to who I'm guessing are new guests staying here.

I stand aside and wait until he is finished up.

After a few minutes he comes over to me.

"Good morning Tessa. Are you all set for your first day?"

I smile and try to show my enthusiasm for the day ahead.

"Yes, I certainly am."

"Great well follow me to your office."

I follow Isaac to my office.

"So, Tessa you have the list of the first few jobs that need to be done. I have left my mobile number on your desk in case you need any assistance. I have a few jobs I need to deal with this morning but I'll call back around lunchtime to check in with you."

"That's no problem. I'm sure I will manage."

"Good. See you later then."

"Goodbye Isaac."

Isaac closes the office door behind him and I get settled down at my desk.

I start to work through my list of jobs. So far everything is straight forward enough.

I'm so absorbed in my work I don't notice the time go by until I hear a knock on my office door and I glance at the clock. It's almost 1pm.

The door slowly opens and Will's cheeky head pops in.

"Hi Tessa, how is your first day going?"

"Oh, yeah it's going good actually."

"Well I think I can make it better. How about I treat you to lunch?"

Before I have a chance to respond a deep husky voice sounds out behind Will causing us both to look in that direction.

"That won't be necessary. I'm taking Tessa for lunch. We have some things we need to discuss."

Will looks visibly annoyed at his brother's words and turns back to me.

"Well, it looks like it will have to wait for another time. Enjoy the rest of your day Tessa."

"Thanks Will."

Will pushes past Isaac. Isaac eyes then focus back on me.

"Come on Tessa, it's your lunch hour."

"Oh okay."

I grab my bag and leave the office and follow Isaac into the bar.

We grab a table and order some food. There's a few minutes of slightly uncomfortable silence before Isaac finally speaks.

"So how did your morning go?"

"Yeah. Very good. I mean I have over half of the list done."

"I'm glad to hear it."

Isaac takes out a box and places it on the table and glances in my direction.

"Customer comment cards. We leave them in each room and at reception. A lot of the times people don't bother to fill them in but obviously it's our job to try to improve on any things that people found unsatisfactory with their stay."
