Chapter 35

After Isaac surprised me with a beautiful picnic on the beach we continued our fun back at my apartment. It definitely was the most perfect day that I have had here so far.

Unfortunately I didn't see Isaac at all on Sunday as he had work to do.

It's Monday morning again. I'm just dressed and checking myself in the mirror before I leave for work.

I get to the office and get started on my jobs.

The day goes by slowly, I don't know whether it's because I haven't heard from or seen Isaac since Saturday night and I have missed being around him.

Just before I finish up work I get a text on my phone. I glance at the screen and smile widely when I see Isaac's name.

"Can I come round to yours after work? I need to talk to you about something."

(Okay.... That sounds serious.... Or maybe I'm just reading into it too much, this is Isaac after all. He doest exactly do casual too well.)

I quickly type back a message to him.

"Yeah, I'm just heading home now. Come over whenever you're free. :-)"

I quickly finish up in the office and make my way back to my apartment.

I'm not long in the door when there's a firm knock.... Isaac's usual firm knock!

I hurry over and open the door. I practically leap into his arms when I see him. I feel his arms slowly wrap around my waist but he pulls me back and I suddenly feel a certain coldness and distance between us.

I stare up at Isaac a little confused.

"Isaac? Is everything okay?"

"Can I come in?"

I move aside to let him in.

"Of course."

I close the door and follow Isaac into the living and over to the sofa.

"Tessa, we need to talk."

I automatically start to panic deep inside me... That's never a good sign.

"Okay.... Is something the matter?"

"This isn't going to work."

My eyes widen with surprise and a little confusion.

"I.... What do you mean?"

"I mean, what we're doing..... It has to end, now!"

Isaac is avoiding eye contact with me as he looks down at his interlocked fingers.

"I don't understand..... You said the last day that this was what you wanted..... What we both wanted?"

I can feel the blood pumping around my veins and my body heating up as my emotions start to take control of my body.

"I was wrong. I have done alot of thinking about it all and I don't want to have any relationship with you other than a professional one."

In that instant my heart feels like it's shattering into a thousand pieces.

"So.... What you said on Saturday.... About you falling for me.... That was what? All bullshit?"

My voice is starting to become a little shaky as my body starts to tremble slightly from the upset and frustration that I'm feeling right now.

"Tessa, it doesn't matter what I said. This is what I'm saying now and it's the way it has to be!"

"Are you actually serious right now?"
