Chapter 44

I'm staring back at Isaac a little confused by what he means.

"What are you saying Isaac?"

"I'm saying that I'd love you to move in with me? I mean if you want to.... Obviously if you'd rather stay in the apartment that's totally fine, I understand."

I smile back at Isaac as he seems genuinely nervous.

"Are you sure you could handle me 24/7?"

"Oh I'm more than sure."

"Well than yes Isaac.... I'd love to move in with you."

I throw myself into Isaac's arms as a huge grin spreads across his face.

"Really?"

"Yes really.... There's nothing that would make me happier than to wake up every morning with you and fall asleep every night in your arms."

Isaac grasps my face in his warm hands and pulls me in until our lips meet in a passionate embrace.

My phone ringing in my pocket interrupts us as we reluctantly come apart.

"It's okay, answer it."

I pull my phone out of my pocket to see Kayla's name flashing on the screen.

"Actually yes, I have to take this. I need to break the news to my best friend that I'm staying here."

"Okay, I'll be inside when you're finished."

Isaac presses a small kiss to my forehead before leaving me alone.

I quickly answer the phone.

"Kayla, hi.... How are you?"

"Oh you know the usual..... When on earth were you going to tell me that you are planning on staying in Honolulu permanently?!"

Panic settles in my chest at the realization that Kayla knows.

"Oh Kayla, I swear I was going to ring you today.... I'm so sorry... Everything has just been so crazy here."

There's silence on the other end of the line.

"Kayla.... Please don't be mad with me?"

"I'm guessing this has something to do with your hot boss?"

"Yes, Isaac...."

"Do you love him?"

"Very much...."

"Are you happy?"

"Happier than I have ever been before."

"Well then, I can't be angry with you even if I wanted to. Tessa, if you love him and he loves you, then you absolutely have to stay there. You deserve this happiness after everything you went through with Troy."

Relief suddenly washes over me.

"So you're really not pissed at me?"

"Oh I'm pissed that I'm not going to have my best friend around but I'm so incredibly happy for this new chapter in your life. Hell I think if I was the one who went to Honolulu, regardless of any man, I'd find it very hard to leave the place it looks beautiful."

"Yes it certainly is beautiful. Thank you so much for understanding."

"Always. I guess this means I have to plan a trip fairly soon?"

"Oh I'd love that Kayla."

We spend another while chatting and laughing before we finally say our goodbyes. I realize how lucky I am to have such a diamond of a best friend, who truly just has my best interests at heart.

As I'm walking back into the house a wave of nausea washes over me.... There's definitely no denying the fact I can feel myself about to puke my guts up any second now.

I manage to run to the bathroom in time and sure enough, everything I have eaten all day has flown right back up.

After a few minutes in the bathroom, afraid to leave in case the sickness comes again I hear a light tap on the door.

"Tessa? Are you okay in there?"

"Oh.... Yes, I'll be out in a minute."

I wash my face and rinse my mouth with water before opening the door to see Mia standing waiting for me.

"Are you okay Tessa? You don't look so good?"

"I'm okay now. I must have ate something funny earlier."

"Oh really? Well it mustn't be the dinner here because everyone else seems fine."

"No, god no I wasn't implying it was the food here. To be honest, my stomach has been in knots the last few weeks with the whole Isaac thing."

"But everything's okay with you both now?"

"Yes, it's more than okay. He actually asked me to move in with him."

"Oh Tessa, that's amazing. I'm so happy that he's finally not letting his stupid stubbornness or fear rule his life anymore."

"Well that makes two of us."

"Are you sure it's something you ate?"

Mia is looking at me, I can see the curiosity in her eyes and then it hits me suddenly with what she is implying.

"Mia.....don't, I know what you're thinking but honestly, it's just the stress and I haven't been eating the right food lately.... But that's all going to change now."

"Okay, well if you're sure but.... If you don't mind me asking, when was your last period?"

"Jesus..... Could you please warn your brother's very sensitive ears when you're going to be talking about that stuff?"

Our heads both turn to see Will standing at the door.

"Oh shut it Will. You shouldn't be eavesdropping on other people's private conversations."

Before Will has a chance to respond Isaac enters the room.

"Tessa, I was thinking maybe we could make a move?"

(Thank fuck for that.... Mr Jones, your timing is impeccable as always!)

"Yes, let's. Afterall I have some packing to do."

"Tessa? I'll talk to you tomorrow....."

"Sure, it's fine.....honestly."

I practically sprint out of the living room door. We say our goodbyes and head to Isaac's car.

On the drive home I can't help thinking of Mia's question.....

(When was my last period? I'm pretty sure it was barely a month ago.... So I'm probably due now. I'll have to check the calender at home, I always mark it down. Either way, I'm pretty sure there's not a chance in hell that I could be pregnant!)

Isaac's voice pulls me from my thoughts.

"Tessa? Are you okay? You're very quiet?"

"Are you saying I'm usually loud?"

I look to Isaac with a cheeky smirk on my face. He smiles softly.

"Well......sometimes."

"I'm fine. I just had a bit of an upset stomach a little while ago but I'm on the mend."

"Oh, was it something you ate?"

"I'd say so yes."

"Are you sure you're not having second thoughts about moving in with me?"

"Are you kidding me?! Of course not.... I can't wait."

"Well how about we stop by the apartment and you can bring a couple of bags of your things over now and we'll do the rest during the week."

"That sounds perfect."

I smile back at Isaac before turning my head back to glance out the window at the beautiful scenery.

(Everything is finally going perfectly for me..... Why the hell can't I get what Mia said out of my head, the sooner I get back to the apartment and can prove her wrong the better. I don't want anything to mess up what Isaac and I have right now!)
