Isaac enters my office slowly.
I try to avoid eye contact with him, knowing he will see my tear stained eyes.
"Tessa.... Can I please talk to you?"
"Yes. Of course. What's up?"
(Great Tessa, act like you didn't just freak out and run off a couple of minutes ago. That will work..... NOT!)
Isaac closes my office door as he slowly approaches me.
"About what happened back there..... I think maybe you misunderstood what I meant?"
"Honestly Isaac, it's fine. You don't have to explain, I let my big mouth run away with me again."
I look up to meet Isaac's intense eyes.
"Okay.... Well what exactly did you mean by it?"
"I could never compare you to her..... There is no comparison!"
(Ouch!)
"Before you take that the wrong way too, I mean you are ten times the woman she is!"
I smirk across at Isaac.
"Are you saying I'm fat Mr Jones?!"
Isaac's face drops and I can see the sheer panic cross his face. I struggle to hold back my amusement at how easy it seems to be to get him worked up.
"What? Christ no.... I didn't mean it in the literal sense. I mean you are a much more decent person than she is and...."
I can't help but let out a small chuckle causing Isaac to stop talking. He looks at me as he raises his eyebrows at me.
"What is so funny?"
"You really are that serious, aren't you?"
"Are you mocking me now Miss Simmons?"
"Never.... I wouldn't do such a thing boss!"
I see the hint of a smile start to form on the corner of his mouth and I feel a flutter in the pit of my stomach.
"Hmm, anyway, I just wanted to assure you I meant that as a compliment, not an insult."
"Well I appreciate that."
"So you did take it as an insult?"
"Honestly.....yes, but I think it was a combination of things. My own insecurities got the better of me."
"You mean your ex husband?"
I look away from Isaac.
"Yes."
"You know he didn't deserve you?"
I let out a sarcastic chuckle.
"Yeah....that's what everyone says when they feel sorry for me."
Isaac moves over closer to me until our bodies are only inches away from each other.
"I'm not saying it because I feel sorry for you. Any man that could cheat on you is a complete ass. He clearly didn't realise how lucky he was!"
My heart flutters as I take in the kind words Isaac has said. I suddenly feel very vulnerable as my cheeks start to heat up under his intense gaze.
"I.... Isaac that is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me."
Before I can even register what is happening Isaac's lips crash onto mine in the most passionate and sensual kiss I have ever experienced in my whole life. His hands reach around and pull me in closer, I almost lose my balance but Isaac's firm hold steadies me.
