Chapter 13

Amir sitting next to Edward with his eyes close. The oxygen tube rests under Bella nose. While she in the bed. She reaches for it, confused. A hand stops her as her surroundings come into focus.

"You're awake, baby! You're okay!!" Rene said happily.  Bella lies in a hospital bed. Bandaged, leg in a cast. In bad shape. Rene hovers over her, tears in her eyes. On the dresser, see get well cards and a photo montage of her friends from Forks.

"Edward? Where's -" Rene cuts her off. "He's asleep next to Amir". She nods across the room to a chair in which Edward "sleeps" with Amir.

"He never leaves. And your dad's down in the cafeteria with Mina" she said.

"What... happened?" Bella asked. "Baby, you fell down two flights of stairs and through a window" Bella is drawing a blank, confused. Rene jogs her memory

"Amir came here to convince you to come back to Forks. Edward came along and His father brought him down. You went to their hotel, but you tripped on the stairs" Rene said. A moment... then Bella realizes it's a cover story. She nods. "Sounds like me"

Rene's cell phone beeps. She opens it. Reads a text, starts typing in a reply. " It's Phil. He's worried about you"

"Mom, you're... texting" Bella said. Rene smiles nodding, "I told him to stay in Florida. The Suns signed him!"

'That's great mom" Bella said.

"Jacksonville is always sunny and you'll have your own bathroom" Rene said Bella stops her. " Mom, wait. I want to live in Forks. I have Dad and Amir here... and friends.."

Rene looks at Edward then back at Bella, "And he's there" Bella shrugs, conceding the truth.

"Charlie doesn't like him. Blames him for your leaving" Rene said.  "What do you think?"

Rene lowering her voice, "I think that boy is in love with you" Bella smiles. Rene grins. Bella glances at Edward. "Um, Mom, would you mind getting Dad? I want to talk to him. Apologize"

"I'm sure he doesn't care about that, Baby. But I'll go get him" Rene said kisses Bella's forehead and Exits. Bella watches her go. The door shutting behind her. Bella turns back to find Edward standing next to her with deep concern.

Amir opens his eyes and lean more into the couch comfortably. Edward kisses her forehead soothingly.

"Is James - did you?" Bella asked. "We took care of him. Amir rammed him good. And the woman, Victoria, she ran off"  She closes her eyes with relief, looking over at Amir and smile before looking over back at Edward.

"I'm alive because of you guys" Bella said. "You're in here because of me"  Her wounds cause him pain. He strokes her face.

"The worst of it... was thinking I couldn't stop -" "But you did" Bella said cutting him off.

"Bella, you should go to Jacksonville. Where I can't hurt you anymore... " Edward said. Amir look at him like he crazy.

"What? No! I want to be with you! I don't want-" Edward sitting next to her, "Sssh. It's alright. I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here..." He wraps an arm around her. As she curls up in his arms... "don't scare me like that"

"Ok, well I'm going to go. I don't want to see that lovey dovey stuff. I'm glad you're awake Bella" Amir said making Bella laugh.

"Thank you for saving me" Bella said.

"No problem anything for you sis" he said smiling walking off out the room. Amir walk off meeting up with Alice so they can spend time together with Jasper.

Amir pulls out his purple suit and black suit that he decided to wear at the prom. He dyed his hair black this time.  Alice, think it look great having his natural hair color back. Alice and Jasper decided to wear purple with Amir so they can match as a couple. Jasper asked him out for prom with a sign and some gifts. Like the necklace he is wearing now with the Letter A, J, A all together. He wearing it right now with his suit. Walking out to Bella room. Knocking on the door.

"Ready?" the door opens revealing his sis with a blue dress on.

"Looking beautiful for Edward" he said having his arm open towards her.

"Thank you. You look great yourself" She grabs his arm. He helps her down the steps.

At a picnic table, Charlie cleans a fish with a big knife. Edward waits awkwardly near his Volvo, dressed in an elegant suit. Jasper next to his own car with his purple tie and button up shirt with a black coat and dress pants.
Even calm Edward is unnerved by Charlie's glare. Charlie nods his head at Jasper. Not minding.  Mina sitting next to Charlie holding his hand. Calming him down from being around Edward.

The front door opens and they look up to see Amir in his suit and  Bella framed in the doorway in a long dress. Edward walks up and helps Bella thanking Amir. Bella descends the steps with difficulty, due to her leg cast. Jasper walks up Amir.

"Looking very handsome" Amir said smiling. Jasper gives Amir a smile, but is tense around Bella. Amir holds his hand.

Mina steps up and hugs Amir, "Growing up so fast. Though you already have prom luckily you can go with them"

"Yea same" Amir said smiling at his mother. Mina fixes his bow tie, "Mom" he feels embarrassed but Mina laughs.

"What? I'm just making sure you are ready" Mina said smiling.

"Jasper take care of him please" Jasper nods. "Of course ma'am. I will. Please take care"

Mina smiles then walk to Charlie.  "Alice lent me the dress. It was the only thing that would fit over my cast. Is it too?" Bella asked. "You're perfect... I'll take good care of her, Chief"

"Heard that before" Charlie said.  Edward moves to open the car door. Charlie holds Bella back.

"I put new pepper spray in your bag" Bella shakes her head, "Dad"

"... and... you look beautiful" they share a smile. Mina kisses Charlie cheek making him turn to her smiling.

"Drive Safely" Charlie said as Bella gets into the car.

Jasper open the door for Amir. And he gets in.

"Have fun Amir with your dates, but not too much fun!" She yelled laughing embarrassing Amir holding onto Charlie.

Jasper turns on the engine and drives off with Amir right behind Edward.
