Chapter 4

Edward's silver Volvo pulls over to the side of the road. Bella, Amir and Edward and Alice emerge from the car. They see 30 yards down the road, a shirtless Jacob leaning against his red Volkswagen with Leah leaning beside the car. Waiting. The two guys exchange a tense look.

"Doesn't he own a shirt?" Edward asked. Amir laughed.

"He does, but he doesn't want to wear it" Leah said rolling her eyes.

"I'm good here, you should go" Bella said. Edward pulls her closer. "I'm not going to be going long"

"Don't rush. You need to hunt" Bella said. Then he surprises her with a particularly passionate kiss.

Amir turns to Alice. "I'll see you later, ok?" He leans in and kisses her lips softly.

"Ok, just be careful around those mutts" Alice said.

"Says the one who drinks blood, Leech" Leah speaks up. Alice glare at her.

"Tell the others I love them and to be safe" Amir said. Alice hugs him tight.

Down the road, Jacob scowls at seeing the kiss between Edward and Bella.

"Maybe you rush a little bit" Bella said. He smiles. She offers a reassuring look, then walks off. Amir walks to Leah and pulls her into a hug surprising her. She hugs him back.

"Hi Leah" Amir said smiling at her. She looks away blushing. "Shut up" making him laugh.

As Bella reaches Jacob he smiles broadly. "Hey, beautiful"

"Hi" He pulls her into a big hug. She hears Edward's car peel out. As she watches the Volvo disappear, Jacob opens the car door.

Amir opens the back seat for Leah first. She sits down and he close the door. He walks around and sits down on the other side of the back seat.

"So, what you want to do today? Bike, hike, hang? Your call. But we're going to a party tonight" Jacob said.

La push behind Jacob house is a bonfire. A group is gathered around the fire, eating hot dogs, laughing. Billy sits at the natural head of the circle. Old Quil, Quil's ancient grandfather sits on one side of him, Sue Clearwater on the other. The three council leaders.

The whole pack is there; Paul, Quil, Embry, Jared, and Sam, with Emily at his side. Across the sand Jacob and Leah leads Bella and Amir toward roaring fires.

"You sure this is okay? I really hate being a party crasher" Bella said.

"Technically, you're a Council Meeting crasher. See. The Council leaders, Dad, Quil's grandpa, and Sue Clearwater. She took over for Harry when he died" Jacob. Leah flinch when hearing about her dad.

"Okay, I should not be here" Bella said.

"I don't know about you Bella, but I belong here" Amir said looking around holding Leah hand.

"You're okay. I thought... I mean, they thought it would be good for you and Amir to hear the histories" Jacob said.

"The histories? The tribe's histories? Aren't they secret?" Bella asked.

"No, the history of how Jacob came out of a wolfs belly and became a werewolf" Leah says sarcastically. Amir laughs.

Jacob glare at her then look away. "We all got a role to play. And you're a part of this. I mean, it's the first time Seth, Leah and Quil are hearing them, too. But you and Amir are the first outsider. Ever"

"If I had have known that, I wouldn't believe you. And would've dressed better" Bella said "Jake" a voice says.

They're interrupted by a gangly-limbed boy, who trots up like a puppy. He clearly idolizes Jacob.

"Hey. It's about time, you got here. Paul's been hoovering the grub. But, I saved you some burgers" Seth said smiling. Amir looks at Seth and his eyes widen. He found his last mate.

"Good looking out, Bro" Jacob said.

"This is Seth Clearwater, Leah's brother. Newest member of the pack"

"Newest, bestest, brightess" Seth said. "And slowest" He grabs Seth in a headlock, the two tumble to the sand. Seth laughs, absolutely loving this guy.

He look up locking eyes with Amir.
"Seth this is Amir. My mate, and Imprint" Leah said introducing them.

"No way" Seth said in shock as he is imprinting.

Amir gives him a smile, "Yes way"

"Seth, did you really just imprint on him?" Leah asked.

"I'm sorry. It wasn't planned" Seth said feeling bad.

"It's ok. It's not something you can control. At least you found your mate in my mate rather then someone who I disliked" Leah said hugging him. Seth smiles up to her.

"Thank you for understanding" A whistle comes from the circle. It's Sam. Seth jumps up.

"Come on. Your dad's about to start" Seth said to Jacob.

"Alright" Jacob said. As Seth drags them toward the bonfire. Leah sits next to Amir and Seth sits closely on the other side of him.

"The Quileute's have been a small tribe from the beginning. But we've always had magic in our blood" Everyone's attention wholly on Billy, his voice commanding.

"We were great spirit warriors... Shape shifters, that transform into the powerful wolf. This enabled us to scare off our enemies and protect our tribe. One day our warriors came across a creature... It looked like a man, but it was hard like stone, and cold as ice... Our warriors' sharp teeth, finally tore it apart... But only fire would completely destroy it" Amir was a lot more interested in the story. Seth smile at him listening. Leah looks at the fire listening.

"They lived in fear, the Cold Man was not alone. And they were right. She took her vengeance out on the village. Our elder chief, Taha Aki, was the only spirit warrior left to save the tribe, after his son was kill. Taha Aki's Third Wife could see that he would lose... The Third Wife was no magical being, no special powers, but one... Courage. The Third Wife's sacrifice distracted the Cold Woman, long enough for Taha Aki to destroy her. She saved the tribe. Over time, our enemies have disappeared. But one remains... The Cold Ones"

"Our magic awakens when they are nearby. And we sense it now, we feel the threat in our blood. Something terrible is coming. And we must all be ready. All of us" Billy said done with the story telling.

Once the story was done. Everyone was talking and hanging around. Amir grabs two hot dogs and eat them spending time with Leah and Seth. Getting to know them more.
