Chapter 6

Amir sitting at the tables playing Dominos with Mina. Spending time with his mother since she been working. He places a domino down connecting the piece.

"10 points" he said smirking.

"You seem to be beating me, but too bad I got 15 points and I win" she said placing her domino down.

"Man, you got me. That was fun. Want to play it again?" Amir said flipping the dominos over, so they won't see them, and he mix them up.

"Sure, but we going to 250" Mina said just as Amir got done mixing them.

Bella burst in, out of breath. Charlie and Harry Clearwater are washing their fishing gear while Amir and Mina playing Dominos. They pause what they was doing. Charlie spins. "Bella? What's wrong?"

"They're not giant bears -- I saw them. Up in a meadow -" Bella mumbles out.

"Damn it, I told you not to go into the woods!"

"What did you see, Bella?" Harry asked.

"Wolves. They're wolves, Dad" Bella said. We might note, though they don't, that Harry Clearwater sighs ever-so-slightly. Amir notice and he knows Bella going to find out soon.

"Five of them. The size of - of cars. I swear. They went after... something and I ran" Bella said. Charlie grabs up the phone, as he dials. "Harry, can you get some men from the rez?"

"Sure. Yeah. I'll just-" Harry seems more concerned. Charlie said into phone, "Jerry? Put a hunting party together, tranquilizer guns, large caliber shotguns, there's something dangerous out there"

"Please be safe" Mina said as Amir.

"Always will be. I've got to go to the station" Charlie said.

"Good! -- That's good" Bella said. "You want to come with?"

"Sure, I'll come" Mina said standing up. Amir put the dominos away.

"Actually, I need to see a friend with Amir" Bella said. Amir shrugs following Bella.

Bella knocks while Amir stays in the truck. Then she knocks again. Finally, Billy answers. "Hi, Billy. I know Jacob's sick but -"

"He's out with friends" Billy said. Bella taken back, "Oh".

"I'll let him know you came by" Billy starts to close the door, but Bella stops him. "Wait -- he's got mono, right? That's what you told my dad"

Billy said with compassion, "You should go on home, Bella" And he closes the door. Bella climbs in the truck, slams the door, pissed. Starts the truck. Then turns it off. Deciding, she tosses the keys aside and sinks down into her seat to wait... Rain now pours down as they wait in the truck. Amir loves rain. Billy, inside, pulls the curtain back, looks out at Bella with sympathy. Then closes the curtain.

Bella looks out the passenger window at Billy. She drives off to another place he might be at. Seeing Jacob walking. She parks the truck and gets out running to him. They're oblivious to the rain, wear minimal clothes. "Jake, you cut your hair off and got a tattoo" Bella said. "Yea"

"I thought you was too sick to come outside or pick up the phone when I call" Bella said. "Go away".

"What?" Bella asked. "Go away" Jacob was about to turn, but Bella stop him. "What happened to you? Hey, what happen? Did Sam got to you? Is that what happening?"

"Sam trying to help me. He stops, turns back. Don't blame him" Jacob said. Amir watches from the truck as Sam and his crew is in the forest.

"But if you want someone to blame. How 'bout those filthy, reeking bloodsuckers you love? The Cullens" Jacob said with bitterness.

"I don't know what you talking about" Bella said. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. You been lying to everyone. Charlie. You can't lie to me. Not anymore Bella" He's shaking, almost convulsing with anger. Shout came from the forest where the crew Jacob glances at Sam, who gives him a look along with them. Jacob takes a breath, trying to calm himself.

"Look Bella, We can't be friends with you anymore"

"Jake, I know I've been hurting you. It- It's killing me. It kills me. Just need maybe. Give me like some time or something-" "No" Jacob said cutting her off.

"It's not you" Jacob said. "It's not you, it's me? Right? Really?"

"It's true. It is me. I'm not good. I used to be a good kid. Not anymore. It doesn't even matter ok. This is over" Jacob said. "You can't break up with me. I mean. You're my best friend. You promised me"

"I know. I promise I wouldn't hurt you Bella and this is me keeping my promise. Go home, and don't come back. Or you going to get hurt" He said practically runs away, joining the gang who all disappear inside. Bella, standing in the rain. Amir feels bad he had seen that happen to Bella, but it was the right thing to do.

Bella comes back and drives back home. Bella and Amir enters the house, dripping wet, too listless to close the door. Charlie's face falls when he sees the pain and lifelessness returned to Bella face. He grabs a blanket, wraps her in it. "Billy called, said you and Jacob had a fight. But, hey, you guys will work it out, I'm sure of it"

"I'm... going to change" Bella heads upstairs. Charlie sags, helpless. He moves to the open door.

"Where's Mina?" Amir asked.

"In bed asleep. She was very tired" Charlie said. Amir nods and walk to his room. He take a shower putting on a clean boxers with his plaid pjs and a old shirt. Brushing his teeth getting ready for bed.

Once done, he sits on the window seat looking out into the dark forest. Looking at the moon. Relaxing for the night till he is tired.
