"I'll pick you up at seven," Sean said.
"Sounds great. I can't wait," I replied.
"Cool. Bye," Sean said.
"Bye," I said.
I hung up first, the goofy grin stuck on my face.
I was going to have my first date.
Suddenly, my happy thoughts go dim when I think about Hunter. I couldn't get that kiss out of my head.
But I hadn't seen him since. I wasn't sure what I'd do if I saw him.
Hey... that kiss was good but I don't know if I'd want to be more than your friend.
It wasn't like I didn't think about it since last night.
I just had to see how I felt with Sean. You know, just to explore my options.
I walked into my closet and pulled out a white cotton shirt with dark purple sleeves with high waisted shorts and white converse. I put my hair in a ponytail and put on lip gloss along with eyeliner before declaring myself done. I looked out the window. It was 6:45. I thought I saw Hunter's truck outside. But I rationalized it as some other white pickup truck.
I heard my door open and I turned around to see Dad with a huge smile.
"My daughter's first date," Dad said, "I never thought I'd never see it coming."
"Me either," I said jokingly.
"Have a good night and-," Dad began to say.
"And be back before midnight. I know," I said.
Dad nodded before leaving the room.
I sighed before turning off my room light and walking downstairs.
I give my Dad a kiss on the forehead before walking out to the front of the house and sitting on the steps.
About ten minutes later, I saw a black Mercedes Benz pull up and out came Sean with a smile.
"You're here," I said.
"The directions weren't that hard," Sean replied.
"Good. Guess we should get this show on the road?" I asked.
"We shall," Sean agreed with a nod.
I climbed into the passenger seat and Sean climbed in the driver's seat.
"Do you like food?" Sean asked.
I nodded, confused.
"Great. We're going to get some food if you don't mind," Sean said.
"Oh. Ok," I said.
Sean gave me a smile as he started up the car and I smiled back.
I felt my phone buzz in my butt pocket so I took it out and saw it was a text message from Hunter.
Hunter: has Sean tried to kill you yet
Me: No. Leave me alone right now
Hunter: Can't
My heart stopped for a second and I almost couldn't breathe. How just one word could make me lose it.
"You ok?" Sean asked.
"Mmhmm," I answered with a nod, "Just, you know, nervous. I guess."
"Don't be. I don't bite," Sean replied.
I nodded.
About ten minutes later, we arrived at some Chinese buffet and my mouth waters.
"It's my favorite place to go. It might not seem high class but-," Sean began to say.
