Hopeless Devotion ~ A Jasper Hale Story

Chapter 22 -The Hospital-

March 17th and 18th 2005

I walked into the Room where Bella was, she didn't look great and Edward was in agony, however since he has yet to apologize I have ignored his existence and despite him offering me anything from coffee, which I hate, to food. I ignored it till Jasper offered it to me.

Dad came nearly instantly, as he heard the news, and mom had no clue of what had happened the other day, so I safely assumed he tricked Bella with recordings.

I saw the video despite, Edward trying to keep it from me, and honestly, that will be in my nightmares for a long time.

When dad got here, I rushed to hug him and Jasper stayed with me not ever leaving my side after the airport incident that happened to Bella, he was extremely protective of me and I understand. 

Dad hugged me back and said to Jasper behind me "I can't thank you enough for taking good care of her." Once dad let go of me he gave Jasper a very awkward hug and they went to see Bella. Dad went into Bella's room and he blatantly glared at Edward and unlike me, I ignored rather backing Edward. After a while, I got up to walk and Instead of Jasper following Edward did.

I could feel his stare, "WHAT!?" I snapped at him.

"I know I deserve this." He mumbles loud enough for me to hear.

"You blame me for getting stuck behind a glass door for not catching my sister who purposefully was trying to keep me from following her, and was successful. You think didn't feel horrible let alone I was stranded because I never fly that often. Edward, you act like a 5-year-old sometimes. grow up."

"I'm sorry." He says

"then don't ever do that again." I respond.

"This is your second chance. Three strikes your out." I say to him

"Ok." 

Jasper and I had been sharing a hotel room with Alice and Jack. Dad didn't know about the Jasper and Jack part but that was beside the point. Jasper and I left the hotel early. The plan was Dad and I stay till Bella gets dismissed by the doctor. 

I get in the room and sit on my bed plopping back tired. "Did you put Edward into apologizing?" I asked not really caring just curious if I need to make him work harder for my yes.

"No," Jasper responds. Picking up my suitcase and his so I could pick PJs to wear for the night I grabbed some sweatpants and one of his t-shirts and go to shower and get dressed.

"Cool," I mumbled as I walked through the bathroom door and locked it. Took a warm shower and slipped on my PJs and plopped into bed and fell nearly right to sleep.

The next morning I woke up feeling hot despite literally laying on top of Jasper. While he didn't seem to mind, I woke with a headache and feeling really achy. I groaned lightly at the light shining in. I roll slightly over and sit up looking around the room dizzily not understanding what is going on until.

"Jazz, what day is it?" I asked groggily. He looked a bit worried placing a cool hand on my forehead, enjoying the feeling I leaned into his head. 

"Friday, March 18th. Why?" He asked.

That when the worst of it started and I cringed and rolled into a ball. The pain was horrible.

"Painkillers please," I cried out he flashed around the room grabbing the medicine and a cup of water and handed them to me, after I drank all the water I went to the bathroom and shower got ready by the time I got back out the painkillers were working so  I look up at him.

"Thank for your help, ready to head back to the hospital?" I asked noticing that he still seemed pretty worried about my well being and honestly I didn't blame him however not really feeling up to talking about it.

Ironically it was a pretty cloudy day looked like it was going to rain so Jasper and I had not problems heading back to the hospital.

Jasper and I when and greeted dad. While dad still seemed nervous about Bella he seem to focus on me with my skin being very pale and my eyes being baggy, something I had noticed while getting dressed however. With my period I loose a lot of iron so my skin is pale and my immune system turns weak.

"Just that time, Dad, no need to worry. Is Bella awake yet I" ask about to peek in her room to check. "No, not yet, you and Jasper want to get breakfast with me." He asked

I smiled "I would love to, Jazz probably won't eat anything since he ate at the hotel. But I'm hungry."

So dad and I, along with Jasper went down to the cafeteria. It was full of mainly nurses and doctors that varied on their line of work, such as surgeons, physical therapists. We went through the line and got food while Jasper carried my tray and I held onto my Dr. Pepper. We came up to the register and since Jasper was first  He gave the lady his card while dad was fumbling for his wallet and was starting to count the bills. So the card had approved by the time dad looked up and his face was priceless annoyance was the prime emotion on his face. 

I laughed at them and was still giggling at him as we sat at the table mom came down and grabbed some food then headed straight back to Bella's room not giving me much of a glance focus souley on Bella. I honestly didn't care or was hurt by it now that I had dad with me.

I munch on the mediocre chicken tenders and fries, sipping on my Dr. Pepper every once and while till dad finished. Honestly I was kind of surprised they had lunch out this early. However I would never verbally complain. Then we all headed back up to Bella's room, She was awake and talking to Edward and Mom.

Once we got to the door you could hear their conversation. 

"Crime?" Bella asked in alarm.

"Someone broke into that dance studio around the corner from the house and burned it to the ground--there's nothing left at all! And they left a stolen car out Infront. Do you remember when you and your sister used to dance there, honey?"

"I remember." Bella shivered and winced.

"I can stay, baby, if you need me."

"No mom I'll be fine. I have Tiffany and Edward with me." She say I glanced at Edward narrowing his eyes in warning of he makes the wrong move as I am trying keep him from making the same mistake again.

Mom seemed like she still wanted to talk more to Bella in private, so I when up to mom. 

"Hey I want to get dinner you and I, Jazz and I are going on a walk then we should go eat." I say and Grabbed Jasper's hand.

"Jazz?" I ask looking up at him worried.

"Yes, love?" He asks in return.

"You promise not to leave me?" I ask him.

He looks at me like I am the only person in the world. "I don't know what tomorrow brings, I will never make promises that I can't keep, and based on Alice and Edward, I can't promise however, you and I will ended up married on day I promise."

I smiled, and pulled him into a kiss throwing all my love, hope, and happiness into it.

Little did I know something big was around the corner.
