It’s been a week since I started to attend San Luis. Parang bumalik lang ang lahat sa dati minus the fact that my parents don’t know about this. Smooth lang ang nangyayari sa campus. Everyone expects na I will be permanent dahil sa palagi nila akong nakikita. Wala ni isang nag assume o nag-iisip na set in lang ako. Everyone treated me as their official classmates. Minsan nakakalimutan ko ding sa H.A nga pala ako enrolled. Kung hindi lang name-mentioned ni Phabe palagi ay hindi na ito sumasagi sa isip ko.
I was currently sleeping peacefully since it's weekend when my phone rang. Hindi ko agad sinagot dahil alam kong si Phabe yon. And she would stop calling if I didn’t answer it the second call. Pero nangunot ang noo ko nang pang limang tawag na at hindi parin tumitigil ang tawag.
I annoyingly grabbed it. Nanlaki nga lang ang mata ko nang makitang hindi si Phabe ang tumatatawag. Shit!
“Fiona?” kabado kong tawag.
I heard her expensive sighed. “My god, couz… where are you? I’m going to visit. You’ve been absent since the first day of school!”
Agad akong napabangon sa sinaabi niya. My heart started to pound nonstop. “Fiona, don’t come here. M-may problema sa bahay!” Nilagay ko ang isang kamay sa temple ko at saka minasahe. Shit naman! I survive my one week in SL. Bakit ngayon pa to maghahanap? She didn’t even look for me when I was still in HA!
“What?" she snapped. "I’m on my way! Palaging tumatawag sa bahay ang mama mo. She would always ask Aunt Janine about your whereabouts.” She sighed annoyingly. “Ngayon lang ako natanong ni Aunt Janine tungkol sayo and I don’t know what to tell her. I didn’t see you on our first day. I thought bumalik ka ulit sa dati mong school. Turns out you didn’t!” she finished with a hint of accusation. I could hear her car, which means she's on her way!
I bit my lower lip and started to pace back and forth. Nanlalamig ang katawan ko. Mom and Dad were just downstairs. Pinuntahan ako ni Yaya kanina para sumabay daw sa kanilang mag almusal pero dahil inaantok ako ay hindi ako sumabay. It’s weekend, at pansin kong tuwing weekend, this past few months, hindi na sila nagtatrabaho. They were always stay home. Which means if Fiona comes here, I would be doomed.
“Couz, don’t come here. Sa labas tayo magkita. I have something to tell you too!” pigil ko sa kanya. My voice trembled.
“What is it?”
"I'll tell you after we meet. Ok? Hindi pwede dito sa bahay!"
Marami siyang tanong bago ko siya napapayag na sa labas kami magkita. It intrigued her why do I sound scared. Nadagdagan tuloy ang kaba ko sa mga napapansin niya.
Nagmadali akong nag-ayos matapos ng tawag. I didn't even know what I was doing the whole time I was dressing up. Lutang ako dahil sa kaba.
"Elea! Where are you going?"
Napahinto ako sa tawag ni Dad. My heart skip a beat when I turned to him. Napaawang ang labi ko nang makitang tatlo silang nasa kitchen. All were looking at me, puzzled.
I swallowed hard. "May kikitain lang ako sa labas, Dad."
Mom grimaced. "Sino? You haven't eaten breakfast!"
"Come here." Si Dad in his commanding tone. He motioned me to sit in front of him where my food was set.
I saw Edward shift his weight.
"Mom, Dad, sa labas na ako kakain. Baka naghahantay na ang kikitain ko." Naramdaman kong nag vibrate ang phone ko which means Fiona is already in our meeting place.
"Sino ba yang ime-meet mo? Hindi pwedeng kumain ka muna?" si Mom with her annoyed voice again. It's been a long time since I avoid talking to them. Kaya I am kind of annoyed at her now na parang makikialam na naman siya sa buhay ko. Pero ano pa bang nagbago? Hindi na ako nasanay!
