After discussing my situation with Fiona, naging ok na ang lahat. Mom stopped questioning me about HA. Hindi ko alam bakit. Pero she seemed happy that I'm finally ok with everything. Ang hindi niya alam, ok na sa akin ang lahat dahil hindi naman ako sa HA pumapasok.
"Do you need anything, anak? Just tell me kung meron!" si Mom. We were eating breakfast and after this, papasok na naman ako. I looked up to her and smiled.
"I don't need anything, Mom."
"Ako, Ma? Hindi niyo ako tatanungin?" sumbat ni Ed. Napairap ako sa kanya.
Tumawa si Mom. "I don't need to ask you, Edward. You'll barge inside our room if you need something."
Hindi na ako makihalubilo sa kanila. It's not that I don't want to, of course they're still my parents. I just don't want to say something and end up spilling my secrets. I would be doomed if that happened. Ever since Mom thought I am finally ok with HA, she has become so lenient to me.
I thought my breakfast would be peaceful. But not when Mom asked me again.
"Elea, I've never heard you go shopping."
I sighed. Gosh! Here she goes again. "I'm busy Mom. HA isn't an ordinary school."
She nodded knowingly. I glanced at Dad and he was just listening while reading some articles in the newspaper.
"I called Fiona yesterday. Nag shopping daw sila. Hindi ka daw sumama dahil busy ka sa school?" Mom asked again. Nakita kong tinaasan niya ako ng kilay.
I shifted my weight. My heart skipped a beat. Tumatawag pa talaga siya? Buti na lang at na convinced ko si Fiona kung hindi, matagal na pala akong nahuli?
"As I was saying, I'm busy. I don't know how Fiona and her friends could find time for shopping." medyo inis kong sabi.
Kita kong umiling si Edward. Umirap ako sa kanya. Kaya naman kasi mabait siya kina Mom dahil hindi naman siya ang na agrabyado dito.
"Elea, I know HA is hard. But you still have to socialize. And..." tumingin siya sa damit ko at ngumiwi. "You've been wearing that dress last year. You have to buy new clothes."
Napatingin ako sa damit ko. Gosh! It's perfectly fine. What's wrong with it?
"HA isn't for poor people. You have to buy new dresses and stuff. May nanliligaw na ba sayo?" Si Mom.
Napaawang ang labi ko. "What?" Bumaling ako kina Dad at Edward pero wala silang kibo. Dad continued reading. Natapos nang kumain si Ed kaya nakadungaw na siya sa cellphone nito. Ibinalik ko ang tingin kay Mom.
"Mom! I know HA is for elite students Kaya nga sobrang mahal ng tuition fee! But why instead of telling me to study hard, it seems like you want me to have suitors?" Napataas na ang boses ko.
"Dad, is it ok with you? This set up?" baling ko kay Dad.
"Your Mom just wants you to have a social life, Elea," mahinahon nitong sabi. Gosh I can't believe this!
"Magpasama ka kina Fiona at ng mga friends mo. Mag shopping kayo. And much better if you could invite them here para makilala ko." Si Mom na ngumingiti na dahil sa sinabi ni Dad. Which means I have to shut my mouth! I can't contradict her because Dad is ok with this shit!
Para akong binuhusan ng tubig sa sinabi nito. Who am I going to invite? I don't know any of the students in HA!
"Fine, I will go shopping after my classes. But don't just expect I will bring them here 'cause they will attend a party."
Tumawa si Mom. "And you are invited?"
Mahina akong tumawa. "Yeah!" I lied.
Agad akong umalis pagkatapos kong kumain. I didn't even enjoy my breakfast because of Mom. Tuloy ay kunot na kunot ang noo ko habang nagmamaneho papasok ng SL. Thank god Mom isn't desperate at naisip na pasundan ako.
