And there they went.

We were at the docks and Daisy and Hazel were going away. To China. For the investigation. Not a big deal. Well, at least that's what I thought.

Beanie sniffed a bit and I put my arm around her. Just yesterday, we had made up. I confessed everything, and so did she. Everyone was quite shocked, of course, but I must say, I would not be so happy with Beanie by my side if it weren't for James. He had made an extremely embarrassing scene, strutting up to everyone and demanding for them to listen.

"A true friend," I murmured, thinking about the thought.

Then, I focused on the two who were going away.

Hazel already looked a bit nauseas. She swayed as the boat rocked side-to-side, clutching her middle. Her dress did look tight; it must've been cutting off her blood circulation.

Daisy, however, looked totally calm, but I knew what was going on in her mind. Her eyes slightly narrowed as she 'casually' inspected the ship, looking at the planks and staring at the other people walking around and waving to their loved ones.

To me, none of them looked really 'suspicious', as Daisy would call it. Maybe I was wrong.

Daisy's gaze lingered on a woman, who was absolutely beautiful. Her skin was smooth, and so was her expensive-looking dress and stockings. Her nose was lightly powdered and her hair was in ringlets, surrounding her neck. I saw shiny pearls that acted as a necklace, with a diamond in the middle pearl.

I remember what I once overheard Daisy say to Hazel, 'Sometimes, the most beautiful people can have bad deeds'. I shivered. Beanie looked up at me questionably. I drew a pasty smile on my neck and shook my head.

Back to Daisy and Hazel departing, I thought.

The boat's siren pierced through the air and the boat started slowly moving.

  "Bye Daisy! Bye Hazel!"

  "We'll miss you!"

  "Hazel, write back, will you?"

Of course Alexander would say that.

As the rest of us shouted out our greetings, Daisy and Hazel waved back, their shadows sinking into the horizon.
