A/N: So I've decided that the POV's will be in Beanie, Kitty (well, we need to know what's happening between them), Daisy and Hazel's. Almost 1k wow<3! Also, is it a good idea if I do Harry Potter Oneshots or something like that?
"Well."
James popped a blueberry in his mouth and crunched it, looking satisfied. We all stared at him, expectant and full of disbelief. He swallowed, before saying, "My full name is James Edward Haulings."
"Haulings?" Alexander exclaimed. "I think we know your mom!"
James laughed. "You're American, aren't you?"
Alexander looked at him. "How'd you know?" he asked.
James shrugged. "Your accent. And the fact that you say 'mom'."
"Well," I interrupted. "We're here to talk about the case aren't we. So the Detective Society members hav-"
"Speaking of members," said James frowning. "Where's Kitty? Or Beanie?"
Hazel looked at me. "They're making things up," Hazel said.
James seemed to get it. "Now," I said arrogantly (Hazel told me to put this in, she says I did say it arrogantly, but, I mean, there were no witnesses, were there?). "Hazel, show him your casebook."
James reached his hand out for the casebook and Hazel passed it to him. He read it, nodding approvingly here and there. "Well," he said again. "I knew Edward would drop out. He always gets fidgety every time someone applauds him about his new school."
"The thing is," Hazel said. "I think...we may need to go to China. As you can see, Alice Liu, Annie Blueberry's best friend is there and it's important we get all of information."
I nodded. "Right after we discover where everyone was. That would make piecing the evidence together much easier," I added.
James nodded slowly. "Alright, I see where this is going. Personally, I think you can cross off my mum in the list." "You say 'mum' too," Alexander pointed out, thinking that James had meant the word with an 'o' in it.
"Yeah well, I don't have an accent, do I?" James winked.
My mind thought quickly. "Cross your mum off? Why is that so?" I asked suspiciously.
James cleared his throat uncomfortably. "Well..."
"Hazel's mother was there at the time a murder happened. As much as Hazel wanted to cross her off, she let her mother stay on the list, and she ended up as the murderer's helper," I said, raising my eyebrows. James's eyes were wide. I looked at Hazel. Her face had no emotion. But this was urgent.
***Flashback***
"You know, Hazel," I blurted out. "What about your mother?"
Hazel looked at her hands. "Well, keep it a secret to strangers if you can. But if they need any convincing and if we can trust them....I guess you can use my mum as an example," she said. I hugged Hazel.
"Thinking like a detective now Watson!" I exclaimed.
Hazel giggled. "I was always one, wasn't I?"
***End of flashback***
So basically, it was ok to mention her mum. Alexander looked at me angrily, but still scared. I rolled my eyes. Annoying boy. He doesn't even understand a thing about me and Hazel's friendship.
