I breathed in the fresh air of one of China's most well-known cities: Shanghai. It was around 6am in the morning and despite the earliness, there were already crowds forming in the streets scuffling amongst each other.

I was one of the first people to step off the boat. Finally. Behind me, James was longingly looking at the boat.

"We'll miss you," he called out half-heartedly, while waving his hand violently. Very conveniently, his hand also hit Daisy's head, who was looking at him with a disgusted and embarrassed expression.

"Ow," sniffed Daisy, rolling her eyes.

  "Wait stop!"

My feet slowed down, my excitement of deporting the boat slowly began to fade. A dark pit slowly formed in my stomach as I felt the world getting sucked in through it. "Why?"

"I think-Wait hold up, where's the ID card?"

After James had discovered what was on Amber's ID card, he had told Daisy and me immediately. Well, after half an hour, as we used that time to try and find out where Daisy was on the boat. We found her smuggling brownies back to the cabin.

"The ID card is missing?" I heard a very familiar voice shriek out. In surprise, I realised it was mine. My head was spinning and I felt dizzy, like I was back on the boat. I felt two arms wrap around me.

"Relax," whispered James. "We'll find it."

My quick breathing ceased. I never knew James could be so caring underneath the funny and sometiems, ignorant, side of him. I looked at Daisy. Who was looking at me with...jealousy. No, that couldn't be. Before I could debate about the frown that had suddenly etched itself onto Daisy's face, James had hastily let go of me and cleared his throat. I giggled.

"Well, isn't there a gentleman under all that skin and tough blood," I laughed.

James smiled and pretended to puff his chest out. "Well, I am very superior if you ask me."

  "Yes, of course," I said.

  "The ID card?" Daisy interrupted.

Identification Card. Oh yes, I almost forgot. "Should we go back and look for Amber?"

"I say our best bet is to put the luggage back at the hotel," said James. He winced and rubbed his arms. The veins were popping out and his fingers looked slightly longer.

  "I agree," said Daisy hurriedly.

"I thought you were strong and all that," I sighed, in mock disappointment. So this is how it felt to be like Daisy. Practically scorching everyone and not giving two prats about anyone's feelings. I suddenly felt very angry at my best friend. Who did she think she was? A girl with a rich lord as a father, the leader, as everything evolved around her.

Daisy was still looking at me with that expression. The jealous one. Her lips were curled into a sneer and her eyebags showed. "You know, Alexander," said Daisy loudly. "What do you think he'd be doing now?"

"Oh, I don't know," I shrugged, her fake sympathetic voice not affecting me one bit.

The fact that I showed I didn't care nor wanted to speak about the issue clearly affected Daisy.

James was looking at us with a puzzled expression.

"Let's just go to the hotel."

I was sitting on my bed at our new hotel. I was surprisingly calm, considering the fact that we had just lost our evidence to prove that Amber wasn't who she really nor said she was. James had gone to trace our steps.

The hotel we had picked was simple, but nice. Two beds lay on each corner of the room, opposite the door which led into James's room. One wardrobe stood between the beds and two bedside tables guarded both sides of the wardrobe. The room was a shade of white and had a dull grey carpet. The light from the window shone on Daisy's bed (as she was closest to the window). The bathroom entrance was in James's room, which was absurd, if you ask me. Personally, if I were the builder, I would've added individual bathrooms to each room, but Daisy had insisted on having a door connecting James and our space. Not only did Daisy demand that, she also demanded for this room, cutting off the two elderly people who had tried to make a reservation one second before she had called the hotel. Luckily, the couple had another plan on which room to stay in. Phew.

I heard the toilet flush and then the sink turn on. After a while, Daisy appeared and sat on the corner of the bed.

"I couldn't help thinking," she said, breaking the silence. "What if someone stole the card?"

"What if it's on the boat?" I asked, in my own deep thoughts.

Daisy shook her head. "James had the card right before we stepped off the boat. It would've either been: James lost it when he went back to the 'little boys room'-" I laughed at her attempt to sound like our friend. "-or he was just careless and dropped it somewhere near the dock."

I nodded my head. "Let's ask him when he gets back," I suggested.

Daisy looked at me with wide eyes. "We were totally not going to do that."

It did hurt my feelings a bit but I shook it off. Now, we wait.
