Daisy

So confusing.

I ambled through the crowd of first classes, second and third classes. I had no idea where I was going, if I was to be honest. I had gone under deck and was staring at random strangers.

Maybe I should go back and find Hazel.

I spun around and began to walk back when I bumped into someone.

"Oh, excuse me," I said politely.

"Aye, Daisy, I was hoping to find you here."

I swung my head and my braids smacked the boy. "James?" I spluttered. "Why do you always manage to show up, somehow and er..." I was speechless and I stumbled through my words.

James rubbed his temple, where my braids previously attacked him.

"Well, for your benefit, I'm here because I want to be here," he answered, almost apologetic for scaring the hell out of me.

I sighed. "If you are here, then...just...you know what? Just....ugh, come on."

I rolled my eyes and walked away from him. It didn't take him long to catch up though, just as I had expected.

"There really are a lot of people here aren't there?" James pondered aloud.

I scrunched up my nose as waves of cologne and body odour from the people we were walking past hit me. "Yes, yes indeed."

"So, anything you've found out yet?"

  "Of course," I responded airily.

  "Well, tell me."

  "Why should I?"

"You told me, on the first day we met, that I could be part of this case, you know."

"Oh yes." That was the worst mistake I'd made of my life.

I stubbornly told him what my theories were. He nodded and did not speak when I was talking. I have to admit, he was a good listener. Actually what a detective society needed, but of course he shan't hear it from me.

"Does Hazel know?" he piped up.

"Not yet," I admitted. Nearly 30 minutes of wondering about and I'd still not managed to find my best friend, my second in command.

We reached the top deck and I craned my neck to look around. "All right. James go inside the bathrooms to check if she's still in there. I'll have a closer look around."

  "Ok."

Realisation suddenly hit me and I yelped. "James!"

  "What."

  "You're not a girl."

"Oh, yeah. But I'm not going to the girls' restroom."

"Then why would she be inside the boys' bathroom?" I scowled.

James thought about it for a moment. "Oh. Silly me."

Then, he did the stupidest thing anyone would've ever done in their life.

He started heading towards the girls' bathrooms.

  I smacked my forehead.

He was still walking towards the girls' bathrooms.

I grimaced. But, too bad. Hazel was more important. So I left James to go explore the girls' toilets.
