V. Witness Payoff.

WHILE RUNNING through the backyards, Jake was sure of one thing, if he got caught, he'd be get the reputation of an untrustworthy trespasser but he really needed to hear what Ward and Gavin were saying. Pope and JJ came running behind him and Kie as he jumped over the fence and helped Kie down next who jumped over. "You okay?" He asked and she nodded. "Yeah... Let's go." She says.

They ran across a backyard with an outdoor pool now, two girls on the shoulders of two boys. "Yo, Jake!" One of the girls exclaim and Jake looks over to see it was none other than Beatrice Sloane, trying to wrestle the other girl on the other boy's shoulders. "Hey." He just waved, turning back around only to run into a swingset, "shit, Jake!" Kie says, trying to grab him but he trips over the object and falls over.

"No, no, I'm so sorry!" He says because one of the AirPods fell out. "No, that's okay, we'll find it." She kneeled beside him and found it with him. "Okay, let's go." She said as she hands it over and he quickly put the AirPod back on. "I--I hear them." He says and she leans closer. "Gavin, meet me now at the construction site near that surf shop. You understand?"

"Sean? Ah, this is where you live, you Kook. Goddamn." JJ said as he and Pope now ran up to Jake and Kie who are both leaning over the bushes, Kie leaning close to Jake so that she could hear. "What? What happened?" Pope asked, sounding worried when Jake and Kie turned around after the car drove off.

"Did you hear something?" JJ asked, looking at the pair. "He's meeting Ward right now. We gotta go!" He told the two boys and Kie nods furiously. "Let's go!" She tells the boys. The four teens rushed back to the car as fast as they could and took off to the construction site near the surf shop just like Ward had said.

The three boys and Kiara now hide behind a gate across the street from the construction site where they peered over the top, Kie standing on a crate Jake had set down for her and stood beside her, trying to get a good look as well. "Nice camera. Where'd you dig up that relic?" JJ asked Pope and Jake looks at the boys.

"Why don't you just use your phone?"

Pope looks at the blond beside him, "well, first of all, I like my antique electronics. Second of all, this is a telephoto. It allows me to get a close image from far away." Pope says and Kie looks away. "Lord of the dorks." She says and Jake chuckles quietly. "For definitive proof of witness payoff, we're gonna need quality glass." Pope then explained to the girl.

"There he is." JJ said and so he was, Ward Cameron running down the street with a bag of most likely the money, "yo, get down." Jake tells them, leaning down and they follow his actions before looking over the fence again. "And there's Gavin." Pope says as the man ran by, towards the surf shop where the two men now head towards the building together.

"Where are you going, you son of a bitch?" The two men now disappear into the building. "No, no, no, no. I'm losing him." Pope says and Jake looks at the other boys. "Shit. Where's he going?" He asked as JJ looked around. "Hold on." He walked away, heading towards the back and Jake just watched him.

JJ whistles to them, "yo! Hey, I found something. Come here." He said and Jake looks at Kie. "Come on." He nods and took her hand as Pope followed behind them. "Gotta go up top." JJ pointed towards the ladder.

He rushed up the ladder and Jake let Kie go first. "Hurry. Don't wanna miss anything." She said and Jake lets Pope go before him. Once all four are up on the roof, they rush over to the ledge where they all crouched down, "you rolling, Pope?" JJ then asked the boy who had his telephoto raised to his face.

"Are you getting it?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I see them." Pope tells him as the two men now come into view. "Ward just handed Gavin something. I think it's a duffel bag." Pope says and JJ looks towards them. "Guys, I think this is a payoff." He says and Jake just glanced over at him.

"Gavin doesn't look happy about something. It looks like he's yelling at Ward." Pope now tells them and Jake furrows his brows. "Why?" Kie asked him. "I don't know, but he sure looks mad." He says and Jake keeps brushing the raindrops away from his face, annoyed.

"Shit!" Pope says and Jake leans up a bit. "Woah, woah, woah." JJ says when the men began fighting out of nowhere. "What's going on?" Kie asked Pope right away. "I don't know. They're fighting over something." He replied and Jake looks at the others with worry. "They're really going at it." He says as they continue to watch the men fighting.

"Ward's kicking the shit out of Gavin."

"What are they fighting over?" JJ asked right away, looking over at Pope. "I don't know." The other replied right away. Ward had pushed Gavin towards a table at this point which made the man reveal where he was hiding the gun so he grabbed it from his waist. "Holy shit. Ward's got a gun." Pope says to the others.

"I bet that's the murder weapon."

Jake is unsure what was going on from this point as Ward is leaning over Gavin before walking away. Something Gavin said made Ward stop and turn around, shooting him two times which made Kie and Pope gasp loudly, all four of them ducking down as Jake stared blankly into the distance. "No, no, no, no. That did not just happen." Kie's voice cut him from his daze as he immediately looked at her.

"What is going on?" She sounds sad and alarmed as she looked back at him. "Pope? Tell me you just got that." JJ told Pope and Jake grabbed Kie's hand, interlocking their fingers. "Enough to put this asshole away for life." Pope says in response. The four now watch as Gavin runs towards Ward who tried to fight back, before shooting the gun once more.

"This is freaking crazy."

ward telling gavin he was okay after he got hurt is the same energy of when u hurt ur younger sibling and try to convince them that they're ok so u don't get into trouble 😭😭
