A LOT can change in the span of a month. Like a lot. Jake saw his friends' faces everywhere he went for the first week, the guilt was even worse when he got questioned about their whereabouts, where he lied and said he split off from them after that accident with Mike Carrera's truck, to go home and be with his daughter. Shoupe believed it and let him off the hook. The one missing poster he saw the most was probably Kiara's.

He still regrets what he said. "There's nothing on that boat for me." He meant about the cross and Sarah, that it's Pope's family's cross and that it's John B's girlfriend/wife. Yeah. He was always helping them, because they're his friends. But getting trapped in a container on a boat that was leaving to God knows where, was where he had to set the boundary. That he had to think of Evie, put her first, unlike all of the other times he has put his friends first.

And he did put her first. After getting home safely and getting into bed, he promised Evie that he'll give her the life she deserves. And the next day, he went to Yukimura Autoshop. He sat and waited outside of Reece Yukimura's office, feeling a little nervous. "Mr. Yukimura says you can go in now." The receptionist had told him and he just nods his head.

He felt awkward, entering the office and seeing the man just sipping from his mug, watching as he walks in. "Take a seat..." The older gestured to the chair in front of his desk. "Thanks." Jake murmured and took a seat. "Jacob.... right?" Reece asked him and he looks up. "Jake. For short." He quickly says and Reece smiled. "Your mom gave me a nickname too. Ray." He says and then he shrugs his shoulders.

"These white people, they always do nicknames. You have a nickname for all your friends too?" He asked and Jake thinks about it. "Only JB and Kie." He shrugs and the man nods, looking away. "Do you want a cup? My receptionist, Clare, she makes the best coffee in all of the office." He says and Jake shook his head. "No, I'm good... thank you though." He quickly adds and Reece nods.

"So... I take it your mom finally told you." Reece began, sitting up straight and crossing his fingers together. "Yeah." Jake says quietly, just looking down. "I'm sorry, son. I'm sorry I wasn't there. Trust me, I tried. I sent your mom a letter, I called her, I tried to come by to your grandma's place when she was still living with her, and she--" "wait... you--you tried to come see me?" Jake cut him off suddenly.

"Well, of course. You're my first son. My only son, actually..." He said and Jake furrows his brows, then the man reached over, he flipped around a photo. It had that woman in it, the one Jake saw him and her kissing, and two girls in the photo. One who looked like a young teen and one who looked even younger. "I--I have sisters?" He says quietly.

"Yeah... Amber and Blake." Reece said, slowly smiling at the way Jake's eyes sort of light up, staring at the photo. The Lennox slowly looked up, "well... I guess I should tell you. I have a daughter. Her name's Evie." He said and the man just nodded his head. "So I've heard..." He says and Jake looks away.

"She's... part of the reason why I came here. I want her to know her grandfather. And... there's something else. I feel wrong asking for." He says, kind of fidgeting with his rings. "Jake, you can tell me anything." Reece said and he quickly looked up at the Yukimura. "Evie... her mom, she's a Kook. And wants to take the case to court, about... the custody and stuff." He says, kind of stammering as he spoke.

"Say no more. I'll get it done for you." Reece says rather quickly and Jake raised his brows. "What? Um... but--but--" "but nothing. I have a granddaughter. And a son. To protect and care for." He says then he smiled faintly, before reaching over for his phone. He picked it up, telling his receptionist to contact his lawyer as soon as he can. "Are--are you sure? I mean, I've been alive for like seventeen years, and now I come meet you, and... you're just gonna... do that for me?" He asked him.

"Yes. Because you're my son, like I said, Jacob." He says and Jake grimaced slightly. "Jake." He corrected and the man nods. "Right. Jake. You're my son. It's my duty to help and protect you. And now your daughter too. I'm sure in ways you'll be appreciative of." He says and Jake quickly nodded. "I don't want to have 50/50 custody. I want at least 70/30. She can get Evie on the weekends." He shrugs and Reece nods, smiling faintly at the boy.

"But of course, Jake. My guy, Jensen, will get that done for you. He's the very best of the best." He says, smiling wider. "Really?" Jake says, smiling back at him and Reece nodded, before sitting up straight. "On one condition." He says and Jake's smile slowly falters, a bit taken back by his sudden serious demeanour. "One condition?" Jake says quietly.

"You come live with me, Bella, and the girls." He says and Jake just stared at the man. Reece just began smiling again, "think about it." He said and Jake just glanced down. Evie came to mind, this is his only shot of giving her the life that she deserves. Not to work two jobs just like he did, be belittled by Kooks and be the underdog, like he had been.

No. She doesn't deserve the Pogue life. She deserves to live the Kook life, go to a good school, graduate and go off to college. Unlike him, who's barely getting by in class because of all he missed just to treasure hunt, another thing he did just for her. A bit of resentment still lingered in him as well, about how his mom kept him from his father all this time, just because she didn't want him to leave the Cut, and live with him on Figure Eight.

Now was his chance. He looks up again, "are you sure your wife would be okay with it?" He asked a bit quietly and Reece nods. "Bella has always known about you. She always wanted to meet you, but given the circumstances with your mom, she never got a chance to. But now you can, by coming to live with us. You and Evie. You'll have a room just for her too, as far as I know, in that little house, you have to share with her, don't you?" He asked and Jake looks away, realizing his father knows a lot more about him than he thought.

"Jake. What do you say?"

"I'll come live with you and your family."
