WHILE SARAH was talking to Topper, the five of them watch the girl and once she hugged Topper, they figured it meant he agreed to her using his truck for the cross, so the group all got excited, and for the first time all day, Kie finally looked at Jake, smiling wide and they made eye contact for a moment.
As the other three are busy talking, Kie turns to Jake, "hey, can we talk?" She asked and he nods right away. "Yeah, of course." They walk a few feet away and stand by the railing at the back of the boat. "I'm sorry." She began and he just raised both brows at her.
"I was being selfish. I was being annoying about all of it. I just didn't want to accept the fact that you didn't want to come with me, that you didn't wanna be at my side. I guess... I was thinking more of the fact that Olivia was back... and you have Evie to think about. That you'd probably just end up back with her for your daughter's sake, and I just didn't wanna get hurt by any of it, being pushed aside. So... I kind of pushed you aside." She said quietly, staring at nothing in particular before finally looking up at him. "I'm sorry. I was a bitch."
He just laughs, "you weren't a bitch." He denied and she shook her head. "No, but I was acting like one. And I'm sorry." She said and he nods. "Not your fault... if the roles were reversed, I'd always be scared that you'd leave me for your baby daddy too." He shrugs and she laughs before stepping closer to him.
She snaked both arms around his neck and his arms go around his waist, tightly hugging her before he pulled apart from her. "It's fine now, alright? Friends?" He asked, holding out his hand between them to do their handshake they all do with the other Pogues. She looked down at his hand right away, then she broke out into another grin, seeming forced before she quickly did the handshake with him.
"Yeah. Friends. Again..." She said and he nods. "Just... I feel like it'd be better, you know... I'm really focused on my daughter right now and... you have that thing with JJ." He adds and she looked up at him right away. "There's nothing between JJ and I." She denied quickly and he nods. "Alright... besides, we're just too busy for each other, right?" He asked and she just gulps, softly nodding.
"Yeah." She said quietly and he nods. "Let's get back to the others." He tells her. When they return to the others, JJ had a little grin and was winking at Jake. He just softly shook his head, glancing away at the others and JJ just made a confused face, looking at Kie who was blankly staring at nothing once again.
When the group were ahead of them, JJ hits Jake's arm gently and gestured to the group. "What's up, bro? What? I cleared it up with Kie, she said--" "It's better if her and I are just friends..." Jake cut him off quickly, looking at the blonde. The Maybank then smirked, glancing at the others before looking at Jake, "I see. You're making her work for it... I get you, Jakey, I get you." He pats his chest.
"I'm serious, JJ. We're just friends now..."
But JJ wasn't far from wrong. Jake was being a little petty, well, not petty, that's not the right word. Or is it? Whatever it was. He's just... trying to make her show that she wants him. He wants to see that first, he just wants to see her fight for him, for their relationship.
When they arrive to the rail yard at Wilmington, the group of six all climb up onto one of the trains, "well, there's like a thousand trains here." Kie looks to the other five on her right. "Well, we know it's car 750X on the track to Raleigh." Pope said as he pointed. "Yeah, so now we just gotta find it." JJ added on.
"Well, news flash. We're not getting out of here unnoticed with a giant cross." Kie says and Jake pointed to her. "My dad lent me his shrink ray." He says, clearly joking and she just made an agitated face, rolling her eyes. "Well, we don't have to. We can nab it somewhere further in the country. Just gotta figure out how to stop the train." Pope tells the group.
