II. A New Enviroment.

     

     JAKE KNEW it was bad, agreeing to it. But it was too late now, after Reece got into contact with his lawyer, they set up a day to take it to court, to which the Grey family agreed with, Olivia's dad saying he'll see them there. "You'll have Evie, on the week days like you want. Olivia gets her Friday and Saturday, and half the day on Sunday. Sound good?" Reece asked the boy sitting in front of him.

"Yeah. Sounds great, even..."

When he went home, he told his mom who immediately got upset, that she knew this would happen, that he would leave her, just to go be a Kook just like his father, she went on and on that day, then said, "fine, Jake. You wanna go be a Kook so bad. Just fucking go." She was guilt-tripping him even, as he was packing up his stuff and most of Evie's stuff.

Reece had insisted he didn't need to bring the crib, that he'll get someone to set up an old one that he used for his youngest daughter, Blake. "I'm not doing this to spite you, mom." Jake said as he was zipping up his suitcase. "Then why else are you in such a hurry to leave me? Why else would you already be moving in within a day of meeting that man? I birthed you, Jacob. I gave birth to you, and almost died, I fed you, I bathed you, I clothed you, what more could you want from me?! Money? A big mansion? I'm sorry you didn't hit the jackpot with me as your mother." She went on.

He looked up. "Mom, it isn't about that and you know it!" He raised his voice then sighed, standing up. "It's for Evie. All of this? For her, I do everything for her, because she is my entire world and... I'm sorry that I grew up and don't need you around anymore, but Evie is still a baby, my baby." He said and the words he said about him not needing her around apparently stung as she blinked and tears were now welling in both of her eyes.

"Really? It's only for Evie? No. This is about you and your obsession with becoming a Kook. You hate being a Pogue." She said and he laughed. "Really? Really? I worked three jobs, hell, almost four at some point, just to keep us afloat, mom. Just to take care of you, and me, and Evie. I'm sick of this shit, okay? It's not that I hate it. I actually love being a Pogue, it's who I am, but I hate everything about it, I don't like busing tables, scrubbing dishes and cleaning after the filth of Kooks just to get some money, for basic living expenses. Especially with a baby." He gestured towards where Evie was sitting, looking back and forth between them while she had a pacifier in.

"You always wanted to be a Kook, Jake. Ever since you knew the difference between you and the other rich kids in their little polo shirts. Mommy, why don't we wear nice clothes? Mommy, why don't we have a boat? You were never once grateful for the fact I was doing the most for you... and just like I thought, now that you've met your father and know he can buy you whatever you want, you're running off to Figure Eight to live with him." She sounded so resentful saying all of these stuff.

"Mom... he offered me help with Evie, and the fact I can't afford any good lawyer to fight for my side in court, especially being a Pogue, you know how that will end up. Imagine if it was him instead of Olivia wanting to take it up in court when I was Evie's age." He says and then Marienne just shakes her head. "Fine. Just go. Leave me." She walked away, walked out of the room and he just sighed.

She won't see it from his side. At all. He looked at Evie who was just sitting there, holding her plushy and staring at him after her grandma walked out. "Okay, Eve, come on." He whispered and picked her up. Reece had even arranged someone to pick them up, Jake didn't even have to do anything, the two men grabbed all of his bags and loaded them up into the vehicle for him, one even opened the backseat for him and a brand new carseat was there for Evie, it looked expensive.

When they arrived to the Yukimura house, Jake saw a spam of texts from his grandma but he didn't respond to them, he couldn't yet until he was all settled in. When he walked in, Evie in his arms and following the two men, he was greeted with Reece, the woman and the two little girls that they had. "Jake," the Yukimura man smiled widely upon seeing him.
