III. Great Seekers.

IT WAS then that their luck turned, the Pogues all lounging around, Sarah was sitting on one of the chairs and had Evie on her lap, watching a movie on her phone, John B was laying on the floor, JJ and Cleo were sitting together at the table, while Jake was sitting on the couch, Kie's head on his lap as she was scrolling away on her laptop.

Jake was reading a book and kept glancing up at JJ, catching the boy looking his way a few times just to immediately look the other way everytime Jake glanced up. "Wait." Kie said suddenly, sitting up so the Lennox boy looks at her right away. "What?" He says and she just gestured him over, so he set down his book, "you guys." She said.

"Holy shit." She said as Jake scooted closer to her, looking at her laptop screen. "Watch your language," he says quietly, putting a hand to her back. "What is it?" Sarah looks over, Evie also looking at the two on the couch. "They... they wrote about us." Jake says. "What?" JJ says, confused. "The Outer Banks Sentinel wrote about us." Kie tells them.

Sarah rushed over, Evie in her arms as she sat down next to Kie and Cleo came over to jump up and sit on the back of the couch behind Kie and Jake. "The extraordinary discovery made by the young adventurers has validated the existence of the City of Gold." Kie read out loud as Pope came rushing over to sit next to Pope on the back of the couch, JJ plopping down onto the couch next to Jake as John B just came over to sit on the floor in front of Sarah. "Oh, my God!" Sarah then pointed, "that's my name!" She said as Pope and JJ also point at the laptop screen, pointing at their names.

Thus brings them to that day of that event, where Wes Genrette asked them about Blackbeard and invited them to his private real estate. With the offer of his mother and grandmother to babysit, Jake found himself struggling to decide what to do. Was he ready to jump back into another thing? He wonders this, a sleepy Evie in his arms who is now resting her head on his chest, falling asleep.

"Want me to take the sleepy girl and give you a break?" JJ offers, sneaking up behind him as Jake turns to look at him. "You're higher than me." Jake whispers and JJ just pats his arm. "Nobody else you can trust more than Uncle J." He says and because the blond's right, Jake just handed over Evie to JJ. Kie walked up, slowly touching his arm as Jake watched JJ walk over and take a seat somewhere, holding Evie carefully in his arms.

"Hey," Kie whispers and he just looks at her, smiling softly. "Looks like you got a lot on your mind..." She said and he glanced back over to where JJ was, staring down at Evie with a small smile. "He cares about her a lot." Kie whispers and Jake just softly nods before turning back to her, brows slightly furrowed. It's like the Carrera knows him as she gave a small smile, grabbing one of his hands gently.

"It's okay if you want out, you know, you have a three year old daughter to worry about, Jake." She says and he glanced behind her, at Cleo and Pope standing together and quietly talking to one another. Then over at Sarah and John B, just as the two lean in for a kiss. He looks over at JJ next, the boy was sitting there, holding a sleeping Evie and taking photos of her with his phone. He smiles softly before turning to look at his girlfriend who's smiling.

His kind, caring, understanding and generous girlfriend. "You're all my family." He says, squeezing her hand gently in his. "You, John B, Sarah, JJ, Pope, Cleo, Evie. I'm doing this for family, Kie." He says, then he leaned in, pressing a kiss to her lips. Her hands find their way up to his shoulders, deepening their kiss. "Okay, but here's the deal," she began, holding him close after their kiss.

"No running into dangerous situations, no trying to be a hero, and... we have a daughter to come home to after everything." She says and he just smiles, putting his forehead against hers. She's closes her eyes, smiling. "Mama Kie." He whispers and she giggled. "She's so sweet. I find it really endearing that she asked me." She says and he just nodded.
