XXXII. His Vengeance.

      

     THE NEXT morning, the Pogues were all on the porch of the Chateau, going over the events of the night before, about the fight between John B and Topper, and such. "Wait, what about that Olivia stuff?" JJ now looks at Jake, pointing towards him as John B perks up, looking towards the Lennox boy.

"Liv's back?" He asks quickly, almost a bit surprised like it's the first he heard of it. Which it probably was. "Yep..." Jake said, sending one quick glance to Kie, who's laying down and has her feet on his lap. She had rolled her eyes and just covered them with her hat.

"She came back. Threatened to get full custody. Then she came over again, told me she actually was jealous and was upset, so she told me that we could have shared custody. And also get back together, oh and that she loves me." He explains everything to his friends and JJ scoffs, shaking his head. "Fucking Kooks, man. I swear, they want to have everything." He said and sent a look to John B who just rolled his eyes, staring up at the ceiling of the porch. "So... what are you gonna do, man?" He looks over and Kie peaked at Jake under her beanie.

"Well, obviously... I'm picking Kie. And... not letting Olivia get whatever she wants, no way. Not after what she did." He said, quickly shaking his head as he looks away and Kie just smiled faintly, glancing away. "So... what will happen then? With Evie, and all that?" Pope now asked, looking at the Lennox who just sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"It makes me sound selfish... but I wanna keep having full custody of her. I don't really want Olivia in her life. But Olivia also offered she takes Evie on the weekends, which... doesn't sound that bad. But I also don't wanna share her for some reason, especially since I've been raising her all on my own anyway." He explains and JJ was just nodding along as John B just glanced away. "You've been doing so well all of this time without her. You don't need her." Pope says and Jake merely nods.

"Exactly." He says and glanced over towards JJ, and also John B. "I hate the face you're making right now." He pointed at the Maybank who had a big of a wide grin and was raising his brows. "I mean, hypothetically speaking... she takes Evie on the weekends, it'd give you more time for us. And drinking." He exclaims, gesturing his arms around the whole group as Kie pushed her beanie up, glaring at JJ.

"That's not what it's about, and even you know that." She said, a bit too passive aggressively so Jake just pats her leg gently. "Um, I wouldn't mind the idea, I'd make more time for you guys. But I also... don't want Evie to become so used to it, her mom being around and then, like, turn, and suddenly, Olivia is gone again." He explains and Kie just softly nods.

"Yeah, exactly." She said quietly and looked back over at JJ who's glancing between her and Jake. "That's tough, dude... what are you gonna do about it?" John B now asked, looking at Jake with a concerned gaze and the Lennox just glanced away, thinking about it.

"I mean... there's also the thing about my dad." He added and Kie glanced over right away. "You met him yet?" She asked and he looks at her, shaking his head before looking around at the others. "My dad owns the Yukimura Autoshop. My mom told me all about it, how he wanted to be in my life, or whatever." He explains and JJ looked around at all of them. "Your dad's a Kook?" He asked right away.

"I--I guess." Jake says quietly, glancing around at them and Pope just looks at him. "You could... get full custody of Evie then. Maybe he'll help you." He says and the Lennox sighs, rubbing his eyes. "My mom said the same thing... I don't really know what to do yet." He said, crossing his arms and Kie looks at him.

"Hey." JJ whistles and John B looks over, just as Sarah walks in. "Well, hello, princess." The Maybank greeted the Cameron. "What's up?" Kie asked, looking over at the girl walking over. "Shouldn't you be on Figure Eight with your little group of polo players?" John B asked and Sarah merely looked at him. "Or did you break up with Topper?" He then asked.

"We're just friends." Sarah walks away. "Oh, he's just a friend." John B says, looking towards Pope. "You have a lot of friends, Sarah Cameron." He then says to the blonde girl who turns around. "Yeah, and it seems like you've got some of your own too." She said as Jake glanced between the two.

"Alright, what are you doing here?" John B now sat up and Sarah sighs. "I'm here for Pope." She turns to the Heyward who just looks up at her, confused. "I think I found the island room." She tells him and Pope quickly sat up, as does Kie, staring towards her friend.

Just like that, the group packed up into the van and were on their way to Figure Eight. "Guys, listen to this. The diary says the cross holds the most holy relic in all of Christendom, the Garment of the Savior." He read aloud to them, glancing up at Kiara. "So wait, he's saying there's a holy garment inside the cross?" The Carrera girl now asked him.

"Yeah. It says the garment is capable of healing ths sick from any malady." Pope read from the diary. "Mm, yeah. "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well." JJ says and Jake looks at the blond boy to his left right away, all of the others also looking at him, kind of confused or taken back. "What? I went to Sunday school." He explains.

"Sure." Kie says and Jake turns to Pope. "Well, that explains why Limbrey would want the cross so bad." He tells the Heyward boy who nods. "She thinks it can heal her." Pope agreed. "What else does it say?" Kie asked. "Many feel that we have sinned to steal such a sacred thing, and God will strike His vengeance on us." Pope read as Jake and JJ look at the drawing on the paper that the Heyward boy was holding.

"Thing is, God did have His vengeance." Kie said, looking over at the three boys sitting together. "He sent a hurricane to sink the ship. Only Denmark survived." Pope said as Kie looks away, down at the floor of the van and Jake glanced the paper in Pope's hand.
