Chapter 67

Yelena Belova's POV

There is only one place that I know where Dreykov could be at, and I hope that it is not too late. Once I reached Dreykov's main office entrance, I kicked down the door and raised the gun at Dreykov's forehead.

"Yelena, it's nice to see you again. You really have grown up so well", Dreykov said as he just sat in his chair, ignoring the fact that I had the upper hand against him.

"Surrender"

"Would you really stoop that low to turn in the man who raised you?"

"Why don't you visit Alexei and Melina in their prison cells and find out the answer yourself?", I retorted as I walked toward him with the gun was still targeted at his forehead. "Surrender now or fight me. Regardless, you will still end up in prison. Or most likely death row, so I couldn't care less"

Dreykov laughed at my threat. "Yelena, you couldn't hurt me even if you wanted to"

"And why is that?"

"Because I programmed all of the Black Widows with pheromone lock, so you won't be able to hurt me, but go ahead and try. Enlighten me with your attempts". I approached him as closely as I possibly could, the desk being the only object in my way, then I punched him in the face. "What- - How? How did you do that?"

"Let's just say that I have some special friends who helped me remove the lock. Now, surrender"

"Never!". He lunged at me at me, but I easily sidestepped him, then pinned him down to the ground. We wrestled around the office for a while. I caught him attempting to signal Taskmaster, but she never came.

"We have already taken care of Taskmaster. So, your attempts to use your daughter to attack me will be useless". I always knew that he was weak and a coward. Always using others to do his dirty work, but never doing it himself. Once I had him completely pinned down the ground, he started to shout out insults at me.

"You traitor! I took you in, took care of you, and raised you when no-one else would, and this is how you would treat your family?!"

"You were never family to me. You tortured me, abused me, and forced me to accomplish your despicable missions. Now, you will have to answer to your crimes". I pulled out the handcuffs from my waistband and put them into his wrists, then I forced him up from the ground and turned toward the door, where I saw Tony standing there.

"Nice job, partner"

"Thanks, Tony"

"You know, if you want to, you could kill him now. The Russian government doesn't care if we bring him back dead or alive since they are going to instantly kill him anyways. But the choice is yours"

I thought about it for a second, then I turned back toward Tony and looked him straight in the eyes. "No, it will be too merciful. It will feel like I helped him escape from his crimes. I want him to fully pay for everything that he has done, and that means that I want him to go through the court process"

"Ok, if that is what you want. I can take care of it from here". I handed Dreykov over to Tony and he dragged him out of the office. Finally it was over. After so long, it was finally over. I can now be completely free.

After Dreykov was arrested and prosecuted, he was found guilty for all of his crimes and was killed by the lethal injection the next day.

As for Alexei and Melina, Alexei was also sentenced to death because of his huge involvement with the Red Room, Child Abuse, and attempting to murder a guard in his prison cell. Melina, on the other hand, wasn't sentenced to death, but instead received 10 life sentences due to the fact that she cooperated with the New Avengers and the police.

All of the Black Widow and Taskmaster found in the base were excused from all of their crimes since all of them were brainwashed by Dreykov and were underaged when they were taken into the Red Room, which included me since I coordinated with the New Avengers to destroy the Red Room and I was underaged when I was taken in. Natasha's charges weren't dropped because, despite the fact that she was underaged when she was taken into the Red Room, the video evidence that was leaked onto the internet showed her as an adult, smiling and willingly accepting missions for the Red Room without signs of brainwashed effects, unlike the rest of us who unwillingly accepted those missions and were brainwashed into completing them.

As for all of the Black Widows, Antonia was funded by the Russian government to start a rehabilitation and therapy program for all of Dreykov's victims, so they would be able to return back into society, so I felt relieved and comfortable enough that they will be in great hands.

Once everything was settled, the New Avengers and I returned to the jet. And as we were all on the way, Tony and I talked to each other for a while.

"So, Yelena. Now that Dreykov is dead and the Red Room is no longer operational. What do you intend to do now?"

"To be honest, I'm not too sure about that. I spent my entire life trying to destroy the Red Room, and now that I have accomplished that, I'm not sure what I can do now"

"Well, I think that I can help you with that"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I have been impressed with your skills and some of the other team members have been impressed as well, so I was thinking that you could join the New Avengers. All you need to do is to sign the Acts, then you can be placed onto one of the teams"

"Really? You would let me join one of the teams? I didn't think that you would let me because of Natasha"

"Come on, you are different from Romanov and I know that you want to change and be better than the life that you were forced into, so of course I would ask you to join one of the teams. We always accept new members"

"Well, I would love to. Where do I sign?"

"You'll have to wait until we get back into the compound, but as soon as you sign, you'll be an official New Avenger and I think that you will most likely be placed onto Carol's team since she has the least amount of members"

"Oh...". I'm kind of disappointed that I probably won't be on Tony's team. He helped me so much and I wanted to repay him by working closely to him.

"But we will still see each other a lot. Despite having my own team, I'm kind of considered the head of all of the teams, so you will see me a lot. And you will quickly find out that I'm not that easy to get rid of"

"I think that I will find a way to make peace with it"

"Well, welcome to the team. It will be a pleasure to work with you"

"I can't wait"
