Chapter 24

I had stopped crying a few hours ago and occupied myself with work before the call with the people from the wedding venue.

I had the phone call with people from the wedding venue. After the phone call I kept myself occupied with some other projects I was working on. I looked over to see the time and it was 3 pm. God there is still 2 hours left until I can go home. I hear the phone ring and pick it up. "Yes Jasmine" I said while looking over some sketches I had done a couple minutes ago. "Mr. Lombardo is here, would you like me to tell him to enter?" she asked and I closed my eyes and sighed. I don't know if he knows about what happened with Camilla and if he does I don't really want to deal with that right now. I'll just break down and seem like a cry baby. "Um no can you just tell him that... I'm on an important work phone call please, thank you Jasmine" I say and hung up, I bury my hands in my head gripping on my hair. I sighed and went back to looking at my sketches.

Ivan's POV

I've been working on some work phone calls and meetings so I haven't been able to see Charlotte, but when I was free I went to go see her but her secretary, Jasmine, said she was on a work phone call. For some reason it seemed like it was a lie but maybe I'm just in my head. The phone started ringing, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Yes?" I say "Mr. Lombardo, Mr. Smith wants to speak with you, also I would like to ask you for the rest of the afternoon off something came up" I hear Camilla say and I sigh. "Tell him to come in, and yes you may take the afternoon off, thank you Camilla" I say and hang up. I remove my computer from in front of me when I hear the door open. "What's up bro?" I say smiling at Tony. "nothing, how are you doing?" he says and sits on the chair in front. "I'm good just getting slammed with work but nothing I can't handle, you?" I ask him leaning back on my chair. "Same bro same, so uh... how's Charlotte doing?" he said and I just looked at him confused. "She's uh good I haven't seen her all day, I went to see her like half an hour ago but her secretary told me she was on a work call... but why?" I was curious as to why Tony is asking me about Charlotte. Didn't he see her this morning for a meeting with Liam? "I don't think she's on a business call Ivan" he says and I look at him confused. "What do you mean?" I ask him, leaning over my desk. Something happened that I don't know about, I know Tony and he needs to tell me something but is nervous to. " Ivan.. after the meeting... uh Charlotte.. " he started off and I could see the nervousness but it was making me more worried. "Talk Tony" I say and he just sighs "Ivan after the meeting Charlotte came to see you and she didn't know I was behind her because I was coming to talk to you but then Camilla told her that she couldn't come in because you were in a meeting, I stayed back and when Charlotte started to walk away Camilla caught Charlotte's attention with something and in short words she..." Tony said and then stopped. "Tony talk" I said getting up and I could tell that something actually happened. "In short words Camilla told her that you didn't care for and were using her, she also told her... she basically called Charlotte poor, whore and slut" Tony said closing his eyes.

"SHE DID WHAT!" I yelled and all I could think about was how hurt Charlotte could be. I promised I wouldn't let this happen and I did. "I gotta go look for Charlotte... uh I-I'll call you later thanks Tony" I said and walked out and speed walked to Charlottes office I could see Jasmine packing up "Could you let Ms. Carter know I need to speak to her right now please" I said to jasmine. "Ms. Carter left a couple minutes ago... Mr. Lombardo?" she said and I looked at her. "She never leaves this early, it's only... 3:30?" I said to her looking at my watch. "Mr. Lombardo!" she half shouted trying to get my attention for the 3rd time. I looked at her. "I'm sorry, it's just... Mr. Lombardo, your secretary Camilla came here and walked into her office without letting me announce it to Ms. Carter and I followed behind and... Camilla said some hurtful things to Ms. Carter and left... it seemed like Ms. Carter had a panic attack and she just grabbed her things hysterically and left" she said putting her bag on her shoulder and started walking and I followed. "I was on my way out to follow her... she just doesn't seem okay and capable of driving safely. She basically almost ran out of the building" she said speed walking out of the building. "Thank you Jasmine" I said to her and got in my car.

I started to drive to see if I could catch up to her but it was useless. I didn't know what way she went and I tried calling her a thousand times but she wouldn't pick up.

I went back to the company hoping that maybe she'll come back and noticed Jasmine decided to stay as well. I told her to let me know if she came back and she agreed. Jasmine tried calling her as well but she wouldn't answer. I was getting desperate. After about 20 minutes I decided to go see Jasmine and see if she had any news.

"Have you heard from her yet?" I asked her and the phone started ringing. She picked up. "Lombardo Construction Company Ms. Carter's office, how may I help you?.... Yes this is her assistant... she what!... Is she okay.... Okay but is she okay.... What hospital?" I heard Jasmine say and my heart dropped. I felt like my whole world was starting to shatter and I didn't know how to stop it. "She got in a car accident, she's in the city hospital" she said and I couldn't stop my tears from forming "i-is she okay... I uh c'mon I'll drive us there" I said to her and we started walking to the parking lot and started driving. So many thoughts were crossing my head a million miles per hour. I love her. She has to be okay.
