You and Me

Chapter 64

When I woke up Ivan was walking out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist. He looked so hot with water dripping down from his hair. He never looked towards the bed so I know he hasn't noticed that I'm awake.

"Good morning" I say, sitting up on the bed smiling at Ivan. He looked back at me and smiled. "Good morning gorgeous" he said and sat on the edge of the bed. I got up and straddled his hips. I didn't care that he was only wearing a towel and that it was damp. He kissed me and I hummed in response.

"What time is it?" I asked him after pulling away. He looked at his phone that was on the nightstand. "It's 7 in the morning," he said and I jumped up and rushed to the bathroom. "Why didn't you wake me? We need to be at the doctors 15 minutes before the appointment!" I said running into the bathroom and turning on the shower. I could hear Ivan laughing at me and I smiled.

I showered and got ready. I did some light makeup and put on a long sleeve dress with some white air forces. It was starting to get chilly so I wanted something warm. I put my hair in a lazy half up and half down look.

I went downstairs and had a Berry Parfait with yogurt and granola. Me and Ivan finished and went to the car to start driving to the doctors office. "I'm so nervous and anxious," I said as my left leg jumped up and down. Ivan placed his hand on my thigh stopping my movements and replied. "Everything is going to be okay, I'm nervous too but I'm excited" he said and I intertwined our hands. "I don't want you to get your hopes up just in case I'm not pregnant" I said, concerned, he gave my hand a small squeeze. "I know baby" he said, bringing my hand up to his lips and placing a small kiss on the top.

We arrived at the clinic and I signed some forms and we waited for the doctor inside the room. "Mr. and Mrs. Lombardo?" the doctor said and I smiled at her. "Hello it's nice to meet you" I said to her and she smiled back. "Nice to meet you too. So I hear you're here to see if you are pregnant?" she asked and nodded. "Yes I would like to know if I'm pregnant and if I am how far along I am." I said laying back on the bed. "Have you had any symptoms?" she asked and I nodded again. "I haven't gotten my period for the past 8 weeks, I'm getting more tired than usual, I'm also very sensitive to smell so I get nauseous pretty quickly" I said and she smiled. "Okay, well lets see. I'm going to put the gel on you, it may feel cold" she said as she placed the probe on my stomach. I felt my body shudder from the cold feeling.

"Yep, you are around 9 weeks pregnant actually as of today you are 9 weeks" the doctor said. I was shocked but also happy, I could feel tears slip from my eyes and I looked over to see Ivan with tears welled up in his eyes. "You see this little spot?" she said pointing to the screen and I nodded. "That's your baby" she said and I smiled and looked over to Ivan. Ivan leaned down and kissed me. I could hear the little heartbeat and another tear slipped from my eyes.

"I'm going to need you to come back in a couple of weeks for a check up. I'll go set that up and I'll give you guys a minute" she said and I nodded, wiping the rest of the gel off of my stomach. I pulled my dress down and got up wrapping my arms around Ivan. I started to cry and he hugged me tightly. I pulled away and kissed him.

"Thank you for giving me the best gift anyone could ever ask for" I said, kissing his lips one more time. "No, thank you for making me a dad and the happiest man on the planet" he said and I smiled. "I'm pregnant" I said and he nodded. "I'm growing a little you or me in here" I said placing my hand on my lower stomach. Ivan placed his hand on top of mine and leaned down to kiss me. The door opened and we pulled away. I immediately started to blush. "Sorry" I said , chuckling.

"Don't worry, that's normal" she said and I smiled. She handed me the picture of the ultrasound and a paper with my next appointment. "For the next month I recommend that you be careful and not stress," she said, pointing at me. "These next weeks are at the highest risk of miscarriage so please take it easy and calm. Especially because of your heart problem we want to be just a little extra careful okay" she said and I nodded. "Stay away from caffeine and I'm guessing you know alcohol as well, you should start taking prenatal vitamins and ill prescribe something for the nausea." she said, me and Ivan both nodded.

"Okay well I'll see you in 5 weeks, take care and have a good thanksgiving" she said and I smiled. "Thank You, you too," I said. Thanksgiving was in 2 weeks. We walked out and went into the car. We went for a little walk in the beach and then went out for lunch. After lunch we got in the car. Ivan kissed me and we started to drive home.

"When do you want to tell our families?" Ivan asked and I smiled. "Mmm I really want to tell them on thanksgiving" I said smiling and he nodded looking at me smiling and looking back at the road.

We got home, me and Ivan went upstairs to our office room to get some work done and talk. I pulled my computer out and replied to some emails while Ivan did the same. I worked on some sketches and sent them to Jasmine so that she can give them to our team. I worked for an hour and a half and stopped.

"You should take a break, love, don't over do it" Ivan said walking up to me and I just giggled. "Baby you do realize I'm a long way from maternity leave right?" I said standing up so Ivan can sit on my chair and I can sit on his lap. He sat down and I straddled his hips. He placed his hands on my hips and I placed mine on his shoulders. We looked at each other smiling and grinning.

"I hope our little munchkin has your eyes" I said and Ivan kissed me, making me giggle. "And I hope that our munchkin has your smile," he said, causing me to smile even more. "It still doesn't feel real, I can't believe I'm pregnant" I said and Ivan nodded.

"I think I'm going to send Marta and Millie home for the rest of the day. I just want it to be us for the rest of the day and they kind of already finished organizing more than half of the things" I said and Ivan smiled and nodded. "I'm going to be a mom, and you're going to be a dad!" I said. I went in and kissed Ivan.

"Thank you for making me happy, thank you for giving me this munchkin that's growing inside of me" I said, kissing him. "This baby is proof of the love we feel for each other. You and this baby are the two most important things in this world to me" I said, kissing him again.

"I will always protect you and our little one, no matter what. Thank you for making me a dad" Ivan said. Today was such an emotional rollercoaster for him and for me that expressing our emotions to one another felt so easy.

I never knew I could develop a love that was so unconditional for someone I haven't met. But one thing for sure is that I will never let anything affect our little family. This man in front of me is my best friend, my soulmate, my husband, and now he's the father of my baby and I would never want it any other way. This baby is my topmost important priority.
