Chapter 47

Charlotte's POV

I had just downed my second bourbon. No, I don't plan on getting wasted tonight. I just needed to leave the conversation and drown my feelings with alcohol. How can he just casually say that he sleeps well at night knowing damn well that I know that him and Camilla live together.

I looked up and saw Jackson was in front of me. I hid my emotions towards him quickly. I don't feel as much fear when near him like I used to but it's still there. "Jackson!" I said in a sarcastic way, smiling and he smiled. "We should get out of here, just you and me" he said and I chuckled. "No can do I have to go talk to real men not trash" I said and he started to caress my cheek "Is that why you left your ex over there couldn't bare to look into the eyes of the man who said wouldn't hurt you, but ended up fucking the woman who tried to kill you" he said. Anger is all I feel lately and he just made it worse. He moved his hand to my neck and gripped it. Anyone looking would think he's just caressing my neck. "You are going to leave here with me and not do anything okay" he said. See what this dumb ass doesn't know is that I've been taking Self defense classes the past year. Helps with making me feel safe and to get anger out, it's also a good distraction. I grabbed his wrist with my hand and applied pressure to the bones on either side of his wrist making him release me. I twisted it and noticed that Ale, Wave, Jasmine, Ivan, and Tony were right next to me.

"See I don't understand why people think I'm still the same girl. Well I'm not. I'm not the girl that would start to shake as soon as I heard your name. I won't bow down to any man you know why... because they're all a piece of shit like you." I said and Nick came over to grab Jackson from me. I was glad that there were barely any people on this side of the ballroom so it did not draw attention. I saw Jackson struggling in Nick's grip and I walked towards him standing inches away. "Come near me again and I will make sure your life is a living hell" I said walking away. I reached an empty table and sat down. I inhaled and exhaled and I felt people sit on the table and I saw Tony and Ivan sitting here.

"Tony, I don't mind you sitting here, Ivan. Just because we are working on a project together doesn't mean we have to talk so leave" i said coldly. And he smirked. "But there aren't any tables open for me, love," he said. Love, that nickname used to bring butterflies to my stomach but now it's a reminder of pain. "Don't call me that," I said angrily. I looked over to the entrance and saw Justin arrived. I fought back a smile trying not to show emotion in front of everyone and got up to greet him.

"Brother" I said, smirking at him and he hugged me. "Lottie, how was work today, did you meet your partner?" he asked as I interlocked our arms as we walked further into the crowd.

"It's Ivan" I bluntly responded and he let go of me and looked at me with concern and anger. "You said what!" he said and I nodded, rolling my eyes. "Yeah and he's here and won't leave me the hell alone but not to worry I'm enjoying his attention. Gives me the certainty that I have control over him and can hurt him" i said and Justin just nodded. "I don't like when you get like this Lottie, I want kind, sweet, and loving Charlotte back" he said and I looked at him angrily. Why does everyone keep saying that today?

"Well sorry to disappoint but she's gone" I said and walked over to the table while he walked behind me trying to reason with me. When we got to the table he was so busy trying to reason with me that he didn't even notice Ivan. I stopped him and responded. "Why are you guys all mad about the way I am I haven't heard the end of it this whole year. I'm fine with who I am! So stop trying to change me" I said and sat down, Justin looked at me and just let it go before I got even more upset. He looked around the table to get ready to greet everyone and noticed Ivan.

"You need to leave my sister's life!" he half shouted at Ivan but then composed himself because there were lots of important people here. He sat down and started conversating with the girls. Everyone talked well except me and Ivan. The girls would refuse to talk to him and so did I. For an hour it was like that until they announced the first dance with "Everyone pick a lady that didn't accompany you tonight and come to the ballroom to start the first dance" I stayed seated and I saw someone extend their hand to me and when I looked up I saw it was Ivan smirking at me. "Will you dance with me?" he said and I scoffed. "I would rather eat dirt," I said, shaking my head. "Well that would taste awful now wouldn't it" he said. I noticed Justin got up and I stood in the middle of them. "Leave her alone," Justin said. "Okay I will dance if you leave me alone for the rest of the night, and Justin take a shot, relax" I said and walked to the Dance floor with Ivan.
