Chapter 33

Apparently I fell asleep on the way home because I was woken by Ivan shaking me, "Love, we're home" he whispered and kissed my head that was placed on his shoulders. I looked up at him and sent him a small sad smile. I got out of the car. I didn't even bother to get my purse, I just got out and walked into the house. I went into the bedroom and took my clothes off and put on one of Ivan's T-shirts and laid on the bed.

Why is it so difficult for everyone to understand that I love Ivan? Is this how my life is going to be, everyone thinking I got to this position because I'm dating Ivan? Right now I could feel every bit of my body shutting down as millions of thoughts crossed my mind. The pain in my chest was still there but I could breathe better now. I felt my eyelids getting heavy and I didn't fight it. I let my body's tiredness consume me with every small and hurting breath I took.

Ivan's POV

I went up to the bedroom to check on Charlotte again and she hasn't moved from the same spot the last 3 hours and half. She's asleep but I'm worried about her. The doctor was very specific about her not getting overwhelmed. I should've just stopped her and told Tony to come have the meeting here, she was in no condition to go to the office.

I decided to call the doctor to check on her. I hear a knock on the door and it must be him.

"Dr. Kang, please come in, I'll lead you to her room" I say to him as he enters the house and I start to walk up the stairs with him behind me. We walked into the room and I slightly nudged Charlotte to wake her. "Love, the doctor is here to check on you" I said and she opened her eyes and slightly nodded. I expected her to be mad because she told me to not call the doctor. Her reaction scares me because it means she's in pain. She turned a little to look at Dr. Kang, "Dr. Kang...it hurts" she whispered loud enough for us to hear while placing her hand on her chest. "I'll have a look at your heart, and we'll see okay?" he said and she nodded. Before the doctor placed the stethoscope she looked at me and waved at me to sit next to her. "Can you give me a kiss please?" she said smiling and I chuckled and gave her a small tender filled with love kiss. I pulled away. "Can you call Ale and Wave please? Can they sleep over... just tonight please I need my musketeers" she chuckled a little and I nodded. I left the room leaving the doctor to check on Charlotte.

The two girls arrived about 30 minutes after I called them and the doctor was still with Charlotte. The bedroom door opened and Charlotte walked out with the doctor. "Woah, shouldn't you be resting?" I asked and the girls nodded their heads agreeing with me. "No, I'm fine," Charlotte said, sending each of us a small smile. "She should be fine, the pain was because you didn't follow my instructions Charlotte, besides not being supposed to get overwhelmed you decided to stop the medication abruptly" the doctor said and I immediately looked at Charlotte who looked at me and then down at the floor. "Char! Not again, every time" Waverly said. What does she mean 'again' and 'every time' this happened before.

"I just didn't think I needed them anymore... They just make me..." she started off and Alexandra walked towards her and placed her hand on Charlotte's back for comfort. "They make you sleepy and..." she started off until Charlotte nodded her to stop and they both looked at me and looked away. "What should we do now or what's her treatment going forward?" Waverly said. She was so quiet I forgot she was here. "Same things just make sure she takes her medications especially since she's known for stopping her treatment. Charlotte listen before it wasn't that bad to stop your medications but the accident and the surgery had a big toll on your heart. The pills are to help it strengthen itself back up, I'm aware of the side effects and I will send you a prescription to help with them but before stopping your pills contact me okay?" the doctor said looking at Charlotte who just nodded at him. "Anyway just make sure she takes her meds, she needs a strong emotional support group with her all the time especially because of her background information that I wont get into detail, I would recommend trying not to leave her alone for long this next week or two because I will increase the dose of the pills for a week and a half and knowing the side effects we don't want her to-" he was explaining everything and before he could finish his last sentence Charlotte interrupted him. "That's not going to happen again" she blurted out and Waverly walked over to her. I see why these three girls are so close, they are always supporting each other. They are what have kept Charlotte going the last couple of years.

"I understand Charlotte, it's just a precaution. If anything happens give me a call and I will get here as quick as possible. Goodnight" Dr. Kang said and I showed him the way out leaving the three girls together.
