∆  A lifetime ∆

What is the things that binds people together?

It can be anything from a small feeling to having the same blood. The one who understands you and cares for you will be there no matter what.

It doesn't matter if you belong to the same family or you are friends or lovers as long as you play your role in the life of people you care for.

Putting efforts to make them smile, helping to face the problems in their lives and being just there as guide, support. What else can a person want

Did it matter if it was love?

Love, it seemed like a word too small for expressing the feeling. The word was outdated

She didn't care if she really loved him. Nor she expected him to love her. She knew just as he said that he's willing to be with her, she too will be with him.

The sapphire in her ring adorning her ring finger glittered as she removed her earings. Her gaze on herself in the mirror.

The night was silent and calm , she was alone but she didn't feel lonely. Warmth surrounded her and she couldn't just stop soaking in the feeling.

Today she is the fiance of Shivaay Singh Oberoi. The tag did nothing much but caused a smile to rise on everyone's face.

They were the same , family was the same and everything around was just the same. But she was happier than before.

The blue lehenga choli indeed looked good. He had expressed his opinion on it when she had refused to wear it. It was too much but he had a way to convince you.

She didn't want to wear it but all his reason seemed valid enough. Even if not then she couldn't say no to his face. He looked genuinely happy, his eyes had a glint and he always seemed to be in a good mood.

As she wiped off the make up with wet wipes her thoughts went to the her own family. Her father was slowly recovering from the betrayal, her brother tried hide the hurt from her but she could see through him.

Her biggest support was Kartik because he managed to bring a smile on everyone's face with his small efforts.

Of course she missed her mother, her real mother. It would have been so beautiful if she was alive. Even more beautiful if she would have been able to see her. But Annika didn't had the chance.

Grief of the loss was there like air but she knew it all in the past. Nothing could be undone.

She could just try to be happy in what she is getting.

Feelings

They were important. But he believed in something stronger than just that. It was reality.

Shivaay was a observer of his surroundings. He read people very accurately. Most of his judgements were right.

He had taken long enough to read her. Because she wasn't transparent. She was like a river who's flow changed with time.

He knew that she was a real person. Someone with logic and who worked according to priorities. It's not long ago when he had realised that he wanted to be in her priority list. But accepted it just few months back.

Luck was also a factor in his case. If he was not the one who heard her conversation with Madhuri that night then there relationship would have been just as acquaintance.

The time he spent with her that night in the backyard of her house bonded them. He was someone who knew what no one did.

Her problems made her strong. Slowly she learned to hide the need reassurance. But he knew she was scared. He did just what someone would expect.

He reassured her in his own way. She wasn't expecting anything from him. But he had everything to offer just to her.

She grew up in a person who can't be controlled. So he convinced himself to just watch her do her own things and show up when she asked for his help , when it was absolutely necessary.

He never wanted to share her secret with Aditya. Because he wanted her to do it on her own. But when he realised that things were slipping out of her hand he had to do it. And he didn't regret it a small bit.

He wanted her to accept him. Like he accepted her with all her flaws, imperfections and drawbacks. And he didn't want her to change. He only expected one thing

Her companionship

All these years, in different phases of their equation. One thing was constant.

They were companions

He observed the platinum band on his fingers with her initial engraved. He wanted to be her companion for a long time.

For a lifetime and the next one.

"You know this is the last time I am asking you, are you sure you want this?" Anika asked still looking ahead and the wedding continued

He just shook his head releasing a small chuckle. This wasn't the first time she was asking this. From the day the wedding functions began she has been questioning him.

"Once you are married to me you can't back off" she muttered.

"I am sure of everything. Now concentrate, I want to remember everything being said so don't talk" he shut her up and she rolled her eyes at him.

A little away from them stood the Singhal brothers who just smiled at the banter going on. Because they knew that both of them are going to be like this for forever.

A few months later

Its true that time is best healer. If last year someone asked Anika if she would be here an year later, she would have rolled her eyes.

But here she is, all fine.

Fine because all her wounds have healed and she felt alive more than ever. Credit to her family and the one who kept her company.

The clock struck eleven and she yawned. He wasn't home yet. And she was waiting for him. Typical

In all these months being by him as his wife changed nothing. But she caught up a few wife habits  as he claimed.

She smiled as she thought of him. She was aware of the feelings building in her for him. It was the first time she felt like she did. Never she had thought of anyone like she thought of him.

Each second with him made it difficult for her to not admire him.
She knew him all her life but she knows better now. These months spent with him, at his home with his family gave her a warm feeling.

Whatever she has now is mostly because of him. If he wasn't there to be with her maybe things would have been different now

But she was glad he intervened and never left her side. He was her companion through that phase. He is going to be her companion for all the up coming phases in this life.

Frenemies or not
They were companions for sure.
